I'm starting this thread to discuss the performance of Intelligent Assistant, now that we have a more or less robust version of it in 10.3.0.1052 and going forward.

    Some initial observations:

I tried some basic things, like creating a calendar event. "Create calendar event lunch today at noon" got me a calendar event at noon, but IA had to ask me for the subject. It didn't parse it out of the original command. After that, it asked me whether to save or edit the time, date, or location. I said "edit time", but it didn't accept that.

I tried opening some apps, but it's voice recognition for apps did poorly. For example, "Open bPod" got me into BBVE. "Open Kindle" opened TunePal, which it pronounced "tune-pull". For the record, my speaking voice is very clear, fairly generic American accent. Most of my Rhode Island accent has rubbed off over the years. I haven't tried to "awdah chowdah" yet.

I'm going to do more experimenting, but mainly I thought it would be good to have a dedicated thread for this.

It works extremely well with my Mancunian British accent.

However in comparison to siri on my ipod 5th gen it's mega slow, and even slower compared to Google now on my tablet.

I really hope they manage to speed things up a bit before its office debut

I only tried it once and it worked fine. But we are still running a fairly early build. Things will be more fine-tuned in the official release I'd assume.

Does it read email and texts as they arrive - the way VLingo did? That's my primary need for a virtual assistant.

Not sure about as they arrive, you can however just ask it to read then too you and you can reply.

Don't have any texts received yet only emails and bbm's

Somehow I missed the fact that there's another thread on this already, so if a mod wants to merge them or close this one...go for it.
