Never pull out the battery on a bb10 device unless the device is fully shut down.

That's good. Do you pull the plug on your desktop computer when you turn it off too?

Maybe that's why you only get 4 hours...I'm averaging 20...

How in the $!@& do you get 20 on the Z10? Do you barely/moderately use it?

I didn't start using the second battery until after the first month when I realized I was being forced to become a wallhugger a lot of the time like the iSheep...
Then again, I am a heavy user and this Passport is beast enough to just get me by for a day :P

That seems bizarre. Even with a 4500mah you usually only get 12-18 hours max.

Different style of OS, not the same effect. BlackBerry10 is not nearly as fragmented as Windows in that you actually have to shut down Windows properly or else you'll corrupt your system files after a little while...

Although I will say that the probability of something bad happening with a battery pull is very low, it is not zero. I'm completely aware it is not on par with shutting off a Windows box.

There have been many a thread on this in the past with a lot of folks arguing the degree of risk that are a lot more educated in the exact technology than me.

But let's not start another one here.

Exactly! Though funny enough when I was talking to a BlackBerry rep way back you actually do need to do it sometimes and it's normal and okay to do it, probably not to the extent I was...

Not that any BlackBerry phone has a 4500mah battery but my Z30 with 2800mah (I think) gets me easily 20 hours of mixed heavy use. Not sure where your numbers come from

The 4500mah is a popular after market battery for the Z10.

I get about the same on my Z30 (12-18h). I guess it depends on your definition of heavy use.

Whatever extent that was. I'm sure you still didn't have a problem. I'm pretty used to pulling the battery. Every 10.3 leaked required my usual battery pull.

NOW! I will be forced to stop doing that if I get the Passport or maybe not. I can continue my battery pull journey with the Classic, lol.

Run phone under tap. Then you'll see them. I'm kidding

Load 10.3.1.632 then you'll see your pin on the outer edges of the screen. They are not present on 938.

I did a non destructive install and don't have watermarks. I don't think it matters? The last couple of leaks do not have them.
I did a non-destructive install and the watermarks of 821 vanished as well.
    Just load 938.
The OP must have done the install wrong. There are no watermarks on 938.

Chance of a problem on a given pull is pretty low. I suppose it's never an issue until it is.

    Z30STA100-5/10.3.1.938
I suppose technically you shouldn't, but I did it very often switching batteries (I had two for my Z10 because battery life was less than 4 hours) and I used it had a Z10 since it's launch on Rogers.

Never had any issues, and I was constantly experimenting with leaks/heavily using the phone...

    Just saying

Each time you installed another OS you would be replacing files and potentially causing data to be re-written as it is move to a later format. This would tend to undo any damage pulling the battery would do. The underlying technology is very resident to power interruptions, but not perfectly so.
