    Thanks for the links.
I think we passed the stage of "sucks royally" then and sit at "sucks compared to a high-end Android, might be in-line with a low-tier midrange Android".

Compared to the launch some 1 and a half years ago, that's not even that bad.

Does anyone know if BlackBerry plans on giving me the option to restrict Android permissions?
If not, I'll never use the better Runtime anyhow.

To be completely honest I've been getting pretty good performance on most apps even on 10.2.1 when compared side by side to a 'high-end android phone'..

Same here. It does seem that Z30 owners are much more satisfied with Android performance, which is probably not surprising.

I posted this in a tangential discussion of another thread:

Re:Android performance : I read some posts on this site regarding the faster 10.3 runtime. Also, there are some Youtube videos. Compatibility also seems to have been improved, with 10.3 able to launch apps that crash on 10.2.1.

*Note*: Only 10.3.0.700 appear to have the faster Android runtime. Earlier 10.3 builds (pre .700) still have slower load times for Android apps.

(thread) AMAZING!!! Android performance on Friday 10.3 SDK!
    http://forums.crackberry.com/showthread.php?t=930971

N4BB also reported on it. (can't find link right now)

Also, there are videos of 10.3.0.700:

This vid is from BerryFlow focusing on the faster runtime:

In this one the (non english-speaking) presenter shows a Z10 with 10.3 actually beating a Z30 in loading Android apps.

Imagine a Z30 with 10.3 Should be even faster. Shazam (in the video) loads at least 4x faster on the Z10 in that video than it does on my Z10 with 10.2.1.

Also, the final build of 10.3 may even load apps faster than in these videos.

The in-app performance performance appears to be faster as well.

Looking forward to 10.3/10.3.1 for sure.

Thanks for your time being.... I think(as we all know) pre builds do not have the full potential to work at the best....so I think we would have to wait for the final build to make our last decision on 10.3

The only thing now that would be great to have is OneNote working. My mum misses the OneNote app on her Z30 (the browser version scales well in the BB10 browser but it has input issues).

Oh, I got something about the phone, didn't understand the part of the heat!

Yeah, at least for me, it still heated up! It's to do with the screen that the Z10 uses since it was rushed off the production line and whenever a resource intensive app is running or you use the phone for extended periods of time, the screen heats up more than most other phones. 10.3 was no different for me!

The one thing I'm wondering about the runtime in 10.3 is why they didn't skip 4.3 and go straight to 4.4. KitKat has been available for quite a while now, and adds a bunch of improvements - memory optimizations, improvements to touch responsiveness, Security Enhanced Linux, and a bunch of new APIs for apps. Seems like it'd make sense and be perfectly feasible as far as the timing goes.

9GAG doesnt work properly on any runtime including 10.3.0.700 for me. It hangs alot.

My Camera peripherals apps such as sony play memories and panasonic camera app still has the password loop problem.

The initialization of most android apps work better though.

    What about native 9gag app?

Has anyone mentioned yet the awesome share framework being done? You can now share stuff from Android apps and it's completely integrated now. It's awesome. I can finally share all my stuff to my brother or girlfriend over BBM now.

I totally forgot that when I posted, this was a really good thing since now I can share articles from Flipboard into Blaq or the official Twitter app for BlackBerry

How is the performance once the app is loaded? Any better than 10.2.1?

I've seen 10.2.1 versus 10.3.0.700 comparison videos that show apps loading way faster on 10.3.0.700, but I have yet to see a comparison of the performance of apps after they load.

Hopefully they run faster on 10.3.0.700, because there are still a lot of Android apps on 10.2.1 that work but run so slowly as to be almost unusable.

For example: tumblr for Android. It just cannot load all the animated GIFs fast enough, and lags and, even completely freezes for seconds at a time. On the other hand, my Dad's old Galaxy Nexus (from 2011) runs tumblr very smoothly with no freezing.
