For those on the latest os 10.3.1 and experiencing battery drain should first disable all the android apps working even when minimized from the application setting and then Proceed to turn OFF THE BATTERY SAVING MODE

And your reasoning for doing that is? Because Battery Saving mode is suppposed to automatically do what you just said.

    Honest question.

To switch off Run When Minimized..

System Settings --> Security and Privacy --> Application Permissions
then tap on any Android apps you have and switch off "Run When Minimized"

I just tried it with my Z10 (10.2.1) and I'll see what it does. There was a list of applications that runs in the background. I turned off the ones that I don't use

A better way would be to run your finger over the top of the Z10 until you locate a little silver button... press that button for 3 seconds and the screen will go blank, display the BlackBerry logo and go black again.

This will power off the phone saving the battery that everyone complains about regardless of OS.

Because getting calls on a phone is completely out of the picture. No business person ever needs to do that.

Smart advice for anyone conserving battery on any device. Not so smart for anyone who uses the phone part of their smartphone.

Though the way some complain about battery, they can't use the phone part anyway

I have an addendum to add: rather than pushing that little silver button, go to network settings and switch off data services.

    Voila!

I loved this feature on the old OS, I would set my phone to turn off at 12am and on again at 5am. I so miss this feature.

You are such a smarty pants

I would like to add that I did as op suggested the 2nd day I was on 10.3.1.632. Unfortunately it didn't help my battery at all. By day 7, plenty of settling in time had passed, battery saving mode had been enabled, etc I had to revert to 10.3.0. Thank goodness 1418 was out when I got home.

I've had no battery issues since.

So if I do that for Viber, will I still receive messages as soon as I connect to the internet or will I have to open app in order to receive it?

If you close a window that has been painted black, will you still get sunlight or will you need to open the window to see the sun?

Has anyone managed to confirm that disabling "run while minimized" does enough without disabling battery save mode?

I can see where not allowing apps to run rampant would help but to disable battery saving mode seems pointless.
