Over the past week or so I've noticed that Flash has stopped working at most sites. See screenshot on CTV.com. It?s turned on in settings. This is happening with desktop mode on and off. Anyone else noticing this? Running 1925.

Flash is off by defaut after a OS load. Double check if it's on.

EDIT: That said, I too can't make it work. I am not going as far as saying flash doesn't seem to work anymore. But it is not working for THAT site.

Believe me, I've made sure it's on. It's not working on about 80%+ sites I try it now. To me, that's not working.

The windows version of flash recently went up a major version point. Because of that, a lot of stupid websites assume you are using a platform that has that new version available so it blocks the website until you "simply download" the new version..

Same thing occurs on my Linux laptop.

Thanks for the tip. Never would have thought of that. The first post says flash is on.

Flash isn't working on the majority of sites I go to. Check the link I posted. You?ll get a flash plug in needed message on almost all (if not all) of them.

You guys do read EDITs, right? I have flash on and I couldn't get the site to open.

I think the update for the desktop version is to blame as well.

The CTV site hasn't worked for a while, at least on the PlayBook. I hadn't tried it on my Q10. I just assumed CTV was blocking flash for mobiles so you needed to use the app.

I wonder if BlackBerry can push a new update to include a 12.0 version of flash? I remember them doing it for the PlayBook for flash updates, but in the case of the PlayBook, carriers were not involved. With the PlayBook, it was a new OS version, but usually just a small update, not a whole OS.

Must have something to do with the Flash player - not the browser. I have both the BlackBerry browser and the Evolution browser and they both behave the same way.

You all have to wait for BBRY to update it. I hope they do before then next update to flash is out. They need to get on this ASAP since the flash player is one of the few advantages they have.

A guy bought a phone and went to Apple asking for flash support, Apple said "You don't need flash !!!". After a month, the guy found out he really don't need flash.

Another guy bought a phone went to Google asking for flash support, Google said "we will give you flash support", after a month, the guy couldn't stand his phone any more as it's getting slower and slower and poor battery life. He went back to Google to complain, and Google said "flash sucks, we are removing it from newer android releases".

I do notice that the Flash version in 10.2.1 might be a regression from 10.2.0. 10.2.1 has Flash version 11.1.121.19x, while 10.2.0 has Flash version 11.1.121.20x.

Is there any way to sideload it or it is on the core OS?

Well, this is interesting. I "updated" from 1925 to the "new" Verizon 1925 released today, and all the sites listed at: Top 10 Best Flash Websites of 2014 that didn't work a few days ago, now work. The Flash version is still listed as 11.1.121.199.

I've said this a few times before but people usually ignore it: there is always a chance that, even if all numbers match, the official version will contain bug fixes or features that were not seen on the leak.

But it could have been a server sided issue. We'll probably never know.

Flash is dead on Mobile platforms (BB10 is the only platform it still has some sort of mainstream support) and I'd rate the likelihood of an update to a 12x version in BB10 as virtually zero, because there are all sorts of features that would have to be added that have never been supported on a mobile platform.

I suppose there is a slight possibility of some slightly newer build in the 11x series being released, but since Adobe has already stated categorically that 11.1 is the end of the line on mobile platforms, even with a source code license I doubt it will happen.

Someone should probably tweet Michael Clewley and get a statement from him on it.

It strange that with my Z10 and Flash off I very rarely run into a site that still needs flash. But with my PlayBook it is a major problem for the native browser if Flash is off.

Most likely because the Playbook browser doesn't support HTML5 and/or MP4, which are the main fallbacks if Flash isn't available these days.
