Just came across this: as of 4pm Eastern today wiping the device will no longer remove the previously associated BBID and password, so you're forever locked out if you forget your password. Sounds like a pretty good anti-theft measure.
    https://www.blackberrycentral.com/ne...ry-1032-users/

I suspect that most users who test leaks know their BBID password unless they only use blitzes.

EDIT: It sounds like it would only prevent the use of BBM, BB World and anything else that requires a BBID. It seems like phone calls and email would still function, but a BlackBerry without BBM is crippled, imho.

The info in the links is word for word what was emailed out by Beta Zone to 10.3.2 testers earlier today so it is genuine.

Sorry to shoot your theory down, but I had the Location Service Issue and do not have any android apps installed on my Passport.

My theory (which I am happy to have shot down if it is wrong) is that it is BlackBerry Protect that is causing the problem for certain people.

When I had the issue I had to log back into protect after every reboot.

Now that the issue has gone I am still logged into Protect after a reboot, so I am guessing that trying to log into Protect may have been the issue.

    Just a theory.
I reckon now is a good time to test your theory. Have you updated Protect yet?

How do you update Protect? Mine asked me to re enter my password today. Is there a new bar file for 10.3.2?

I think it will be pushed as an update, but I'm not positive. If not, most likely bbworld. I don't think there is a bar file available yet since the new protect hasn't been included in any of the latest bet/leaked OS's

I have google maps installed via SNAP. I also have 3 other android apps installed that like to access locations services. So it seems that even with location services off they try to do their thing and end up eating up battery life.

Can you delete Google maps, restart phone, and report back once you know whether the issue is resolved or not?

Cobalt has a Google Apps Landing Page thread and you can download Android Settings there. Here's the link to the APK

    https://app.box.com/s/hirhibrbu4485xeoeen9

It will let you turn off Access to My Location, perhaps that would work without having to delete anything?

That's what I initially thought as well, but no luck with that method. I tried Google GPS on/off with BlackBerry GPS on/off, but neither worked while Google maps was installed

I haven't read through the thread so apologies if this has been tried as well. Have you installed the AppOps 4.3/4.4 apk and tried going into Google Maps and denying permission to Location there as well? Obviously more work than just un-installing Google Maps but it would be interesting to see if that worked (and could be used on other apps that may drain battery due to location).

Never heard of appops until now. Seems like a useful app for a lot of BlackBerry users. Now to see if it works...

Very useful, it allows you to turn off app permissions selectively in Jelly Bean / Kit Kat. If you can't find the APK I think this app will work as well through Snap.

This leak makes my phone freeze when I open some native and potted apps.

    It happens most every hour.

I also have a problem when the space bar on the keyboard. Sometimes when I hit the space bar,it closes the keyboard.

the delete also acts funny sometimes.

These have always worked for me.

Once this crops up, an OS update will normally not fix the problem. It is the result of a corrupt "blackberry runtime". Typically, only a fresh install will solve it (security wipe or autoloader).

    Hello

Is this the latest leak you are on? I see your device is Z30 same as Classic. Would you recommend an upgrade from 10.3.1.2558?

Meh. It's great for cloud storage users (access times are much improved through file manager), but there's no pot of gold in 10.3.2 yet.

Some people who had the delayed call answering bug on 10.3.1 (which I never had), claim that the problem has been fixed with 10.3.2.

But a number of people have had issues with location services on this build (I have not) eating up their battery.

Not sure it has been mentioned already but well.. maybe after 45 pages is worth it in any case to repeat it!

When in Reader mode in the browser you have now the option to ask BlackBerry Assistant to read the text!

Pretty cool if you ask me
