I am new to loading a leak, so I read a few stickies and decided to give it a go. Backed up the device and wanted a destructive update.
Computer is Windows 7 and phone is a Passport, currently running the latest pushed by the carrier (forget what the version was).

    My steps:

    1. Downloaded the file linked on cell G176 at the following link - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...#gid=438638507

    2. Connected the Passport to computer via USB cable.

    3. Closed Blackberry Link, by right clicking the icon in the notification area and choosing "close".

    4. Extracted the file downloaded in 1. above, obtained an exe file, and ran the exe file.

    5. The command window asked for password, so I entered the device passcode and hit enter.

Then after displaying a few lines, the command line window disappeared. My Passport is at the moment connected to the computer, flashing red led twice every three seconds. I don't know what the status of the loading is or whether and when I can pull this usb cable.

Can someone help me? Thank you.

Sounds like you used the wrong loader for your device.

    What model do you have?

I thought there was only one model of Passport.
Where can I find that information?

Also, besides that, can I pull the USB from device at this point? Am I risking any permanent/hard to fix brick?

Cell g176 contains the radio only - you need the complete autoloader which contains the OS, radio and applications.

Your best loading 10.3.0.1418 I've tried all the available 10.3.1 builds and there rather buggy.

I actually didn't understand that thing about radio.
I think I read how they disect a leak and put it together with radio from a previous version or something and how that often results in better battery, but didn't really fully understand the whole radio thing. Is the word "radio" referring to all the wireless connections or part of the OS coding that's responsible for wireless communication?

You can find the Passport autoloader on the OP of the thread "10.3.1.1016 autoloaders for all devices"

Thank you. Didn't know what was the best and just thought I would go with the latest.

So, what should I do at this point to load 10.3.0.1418?

Run the autoloader. Get the latest 10.3.1 as per don_henry's above post.

The autoloader does it all. One file. One exe. Completely wipes and installs the complete OS.

Not sure where you got your information - by using an autoloader, you don't have to worry about which radio goes with which OS, etc. I also suggest you spend some time reading up on the stickie "How to load an OS using an autoloader" and also other threads on CB. Doing destructive and non-destructive leaks is really not hard if you understand the steps and follow them - if you don't, bad things can happen.

Thanks for all replies and pointers.

Sounds like at this point, I am not risking any bricks or "bad things" that you, Don_Henry, just referred to, then, seeing how there's no comment on that aspect of my question.

    Thank you all.

    From http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-le...loader-927076/

"DO NOT TOUCH YOUR PHONE WHILE THIS IS GOING ON. You run the risk of soft-bricking your device (black screen red blinking led) if you fiddle with your phone during the loading process. Do not touch the phone."

Sounds like I soft bricked my device then, with the black screen and led blinking red.

Actually you have already experienced a bad thing - but should be recoverable with the correct autoloader. In extreme cases, a bad thing can result in a device that cannot be recovered and must be sent in to be serviced.

Good luck - and again strongly suggest reading the stickie I mentioned before trying the autoloader.

Pretty near impossible to brick a BB10. What I would recommend is going back to 10.3.0, or taking the time to read Passport posts in the 1010 and 1016 threads (OS and findings/fixes), then determine whether the bugs are worth the gains. Should be a more viable 10.3.1 for the Passport leaked soon enough, or official.

Chock this up as a learning experience, and study what's below carefully before taking any more leaps.

Try to reload your OS with BBlink or try to run an autoloader again.

Download autoloader for the passport from the link above. Extract using 7 Zip. Run exe file while device is connected to PC via USB. If installation does not proceed, then press the on/off key on your passport until it restarts (probably 10-15 seconds). Once device restarts let autoloader do it's job.

If you're going to throw up a download link, for someone who's had issues and little experience, at least be clear what it is. 1016 is running great on my Z10 and Z30, but I've heard very mixed reviews for it on the Passport, and wouldn't rush to recommend anyone install it. Let alone the OP.

I wouldn't have provided him with the link to 10.3.1.1016 if the OP was not adventurous in the first place by downloading some version of 10.3.1.X from the link he has posted. Since he has taken the plunge why not try the latest. If it doesn't work for him, I'd be glad to provide him with the link to 10.3.0.1418 as well.
