None of that actually proves me wrong?
A license providing rights to study, (being transparent with the code).
And QNX allows you to modify the OS anyways.
And redistribution is dependent on the license, for example the most notable GPL license, allows people to see the code, modify it, and redistribute, but they have to note the original source, and their changes. Not everyone has to adopt this license to be open source it's just an example.

If your referring to pricing, open source does not mean you have to be free, you can charge as much as you want. GIMP, for example is free from the source but they have it on their site that if you want, it's legal to charge money for It with some conditions in relation to code transparency and the GPL license.

The only issue I have with open sourcing BlackBerry 10 software is when you modify, rebuild and try to load this software onto a BlackBerry device it WILL NOT WORK. Simply because the hardware requires the OS to be signed by BlackBerry to run.

I would also like to chime in with OpenBSD and several of its projects including OpenSSH.

When's the last time BlackBerry open sourced anything?

I can't think of one, either.

There's no way that will happen. The security implications alone mean that code will never see the light of day.

In my opinion if you all really want to, you can jump on over to the QNX website and foundry27 to collect resources and possibly build your own qnx based mobile operating system.

Open source does not inherently equal insecure. Sometimes it means more secure.

Making it open source would likely compromise BlackBerry's tight security and integration with its other products and services.

Showing people how the OS works won't break the security. If it does that'd mean BlackBerry wasn't secure to begin with.

False equivalence. Open source software isn't made secure just by being open, it's made secure through active maintenance and oversight.

It's worth pointing out that QNX Neutrino was open source for many years, wasn't it?

Quite so. Till it's acquisition by BlackBerry.
