Does anyone know a fix for the contacts not working with the dark theme? No matter how many times I change it to dark, it won't save. It always goes back to light.

That problem is caused by something in the restore process. If you want it to work you need to wipe the device and don't do a restore.

Don't restore settings to be specific.

Restoring settings doesn't always cause the issue with being unable to retain the dark theme (or other Contacts-related issues). On the weekend, I loaded the 10.2.1.1055 leak myself. Being unwilling to lose my PW Keeper data, I chose to restore the settings and app data.

BUT... I deleted all my accounts -- Gmail, EAS email, Facebook, Twitter, Evernote -- before creating my backup. I can't prove it, but believe it's the accounts being restored that are causing the issue. So, once the leak is installed, I restore my settings and data, then add my accounts back. So far, so good on the last handful of leaks installed.

I'm going to try that.. deleting all accounts and restoring again. I'll let you know

Just make sure you make a new backup with the accounts removed and restore that afterward.

This is great info! Thanks Elissar!

Did you delete the accounts and back up before you installed the leak? With an official OS? Wondering if I could replicate the results by backing up the leak after deleting accounts, doing a fresh install on leak, then restoring from that back up.

I was running the leaked 10.2.0.1791. When it was officially released, I got the carrier add-ins -- I guess you'd call that semi-official. I had the dark theme for contacts running fine at that time. Before installing 10.2.1.1055, I deleted all the accounts and my my side-loads. Then hard reboot, created the backup, ran the leak installer, restored Settings and App Data. Hard reboot, then set up my accounts again.

    Just tried that^, no go

Fwiw the issue was fixed on 1803, no workaround needed. I'm having the issue on Z10STL100-3/10.2.1.1055. I havent tried rolling back to 1803 and creating an backup without accounts from 1803 :/

1803? Is that 10.2.0.1803 or is there another 10.2.1 leak I don't know about?

Don't restore. I have a -3 and have always had this problem. Buy the ContactX app which is totally cool. Look through the threads and you find information on it. There is a lso a tool SplitVCF to split the contacts on your of where you can edit individually and then import into Outlook.

Anyway...restore your contacts with ContactX after reloading and then change to Dark Theme. Trust me...this works and for $1.99 it's and excellent investment.

I would also like to add to that with all the changes in 1055, you shouldn't restore due to the changes in the settings. I did it both ways and it's a lot smoother doing a fresh setup

    I hope this helps.

Here's the link in case you wan to read up on it and grab the SpliVCF tool.

Contact X ?? The useful tool for BlackBerry 10.

That doesn't work. Tried everything. I guess the only fix is to wait 10 months for VZW to release the official update....

It's my understanding that you can do a fresh install, and restore the contacts using a cloud app like Contact X from BlackBerry World. So don't restore with BlackBerry Link, instead use the cloud services, and that fixes it. I just haven't had the time to do another install yet.

I also had someone mention that they backed up their 10.2.0 phone AFTER they deleted all the accounts on their phone (email, Facebook, twitter, etc) and then did a full restore and that fixed it. I dunno if that has been replicated with anyone else yet... so not sure if that was a unique instance or not. (EDIT, lol, it was in this thread, see above.)
