I was already on 10.3.2.2204 on my passport and Protect was on.

i autoloaded 10.3.2.2204 and it completed as it should and during setup it asked me to enter BBID .What i dont understand is what if i would have entered different bbid during set up.. And does autoloader remove device password or not??

it never asked me to enter same bbid or anything like this.. I dont know how it works.. anyone wana share..

    thanks

When you Autoload an OS al your data would be wiped. You have to reinstall everything like you set up the phone the first time.

With new anti-theft feature on 10.3.2, you need the original BlackBerry ID after a security wipe or autoloader. If you don't have it, or remember it, your device will be unrecoverable forever.

I know that. I was asking about the behaviour of BlackBerry PROTECT after autoloading OS. Should it allow me to enter any bbid or just previous id.

Installation will not proceed without original BlackBerry ID. You CAN'T enter a different one. That's the whole point, as the device would be useless to a thief.

ID is on BlackBerry servers and is associated with the PIN of your device.

An autoloader is not supposed to remove your password. That's normal. It's stored in device memory somewhere - but a security wipe will remove it.

Turn off BlackBerry Protect first, then do a security wipe.

I never questioned what you said. I knew how it works I was tryng to know whether to enter new ID should be there or not.. I mean I wasn't sure whether space to enter email id should be allowed to enter or it would be already filled with the previous emailid and only password field should be there to fill..

When I autoloaded 10.3.2.798, I never got that screen. I got to the screen that asks to log into my BBID, but there was a "Skip" button at the bottom. The same screen I had seen in every other prior OS after an autoload or a wipe. I never saw anything that said "required".

I didn't skip, but would that screen have popped up if I did hit "Skip"?

It would have had to turn itself off. It's always been on, and it was on after that autoload was done. I checked to be sure.

Doesn't matter maybe because you haven't installed 10.3.2 before that would able to re-activate your BBID/Protect for Anti-Theft feature. Now that you're running 10.3.2 and activate Protect, you should have that pop up/message warning once you run a new autoloader in the future.

You can only turn anti-theft on with 10.3.2. The feature did not exist prior to this.
