Probably the usb cable is going bad. They do "wear" out and get poor contact.

I had the same problem in the past. New quality usb cable usually fixes it.

Is it an OEM BlackBerry charging cable? If it's not, the it doesn't matter how new or old it is. Not all usb cables are the same and some will not work properly on BlackBerry devices.

Use the original OEM cable and original OEM charger and see if it resolves the issue. Until you try the originals you're only speculating that the OS is the issue.

Let the battery goes down to 0%, then recharge it to 100%.

lol I felt like this was a problem beyond my USB cables or my USB port itself, but I skeptical as to how an update could cause what appears to be hardware issues like this... but now that I see others are having the same problems...75% of the time my now phone is not detected and the USB cable is OEM, I have to do strange things to convince it that it's plugged in.... my cables don't have problems with my other devices and visually the socket looks clean and normal... idk... this a q10.

After the double typing issue actually came out to be a prevalent software related problem which an update broke & later fixed I could see this one being related... I expect everyone to immediately blame me and my hardware, but I'm watching this to see if anyone else is experiencing this..

Any updates on this? Wife's Z30 is now facing these issues with different chargers that all work with my Priv and Passport. Doesn't show charging when plugged in half the time. Only a reboot fixes it.

It may be due an electrical voltage in your home is too low, not the OS issue.
The best way to charge your batteries such times is to turn off the device.
