True dat! Just needs to brush up on the schmoozing a tad...

    My dearest Mr. Chen,

I have been enjoying your latest leak for quite some time now. The camera improvements, change to device monitor, speed running apk and UI enhancements, among other refinements have given me newfound hope for my BlackBerry. If you can recall back to when you ran it, there are a few issues I'm sure you've addressed in newer versions. If you could find it in your heart to let one of those leak, I would be ever so grateful.

    Sincerely,

    Your bestest CrackBerry bud

Surprisingly my both devices ( classic and passport) behave differently with 2339, while classic worked just the same as before passport had bad battery. After adding 857 radio both are working just fine. No significant change. Both give me a day + battery and improved connectivity for cell signals.

I did autoloader install of 2339 and have just 2 android apps and few must have native apps, and no games but still I saw very poor battery life and reception on my Passport for weeks. Finally I Sachesi install the 859 radio file and got my 1 and half day long battery life. Now battery life is good and call drop is a thing of past. However there is no NFC now and I can live without it.
I must keep a small text file in my OS backup folder and keep note of how a particular install worked in case I keep running into gremlins of supposedly better and newer OS leaks.
Only the radio file of 2339 gave me grief and the OS release by and large is well behaved.

Asking Chen for a new leak does not make lots of sense of course. However, strange things happen on my Classic & PP since I installed 2339:

Can't get Evernote/Remember sync to work.
Sometimes, my Gmail mail account 'merges' into my Outlook.com acount. I will continue to receive mail, but no audio signal, and under 'notifications' there is only one mail account left. Always have to delete/redefine the Gmail account when this happens.

This never occured on previous OS versions, and I've been running almost the same config since BB10 came to live.

One interesting/frustrating finding that I mentioned in another thread about the Passport SE, but which may have been overlooked because the thread wasn't about OS versions.

The SE apparently will not take the 859 radio or even the 858/859 OS. I wanted to go from the stock 2339/2340 on the SE to 859 for two reasons: One, the likely better battery life and wifi reception, and two, the fact that 859 does /not/ recognize NFC, which permits one of my Android programs to run. (No, I can't fix it by toggling off NFC.)

I tried every which way to load 859 on my SE--Sachesi non-destructive, 859 radio autoload, full 858/859 autoload, hybrid 2339/859 autoload (via DBBT), and in every case I soft bricked the phone and got a BlackBerry error 2210 (?) or something like that. Only when I re-autoloaded 2339/2340 was I able to recover.

If the hardware is the same in the SE as in the OG Passport, I wonder why the 859 radio is incompatible? Or is there something wrong with my SE? Has anyone successfully gotten 2339/859 to run on an SE? If so, how?

I'm not going to say 2339 is perfect, but it has been fairly solid for me. Battery life isn't as good as some past versions, but I do find that I haven't had any signal issues in a couple of spots that I have lost call in the past at. A few Android Apps do lag when first opening them... but I have no comparison, they might do that on a S6. On my two year old Z10 hardware (wasn't the latest hardware when it was shipped) I would expect to be seeing some lag at this point.

But yeah it has been a while, Mr Chen has certainly found a way to stop the leaks. Kinda surprising that the "new" Passport didn't rate anything beyond what we were aware of.

But then that just leads to some wild speculations on why they don't seem to be using the normal Servers for BB10 development anymore... and why that may be very relevant in the months to come.

2239 on Passport is horrible. Takes atleast 3 swipes to wake up the device and a good 2sec delay when pressing lock button. Not to mention the slow as molasses camera focus.

One small problem with that. If you have an unlocked shop BlackBerry device, it will bug you to update to the latest official release which is 10.3.2.2339.

Just load it again with an autoloader and factory restore it before you load any apps or start using the device. 2339 is the best OS bruh...

How does the 2339 battery life compare with the 2252 (which has been atrocious on the Classic)? Better or worse?

Did you do a fresh install? I originally did an upgrade Sachesi and I had a myriad of problems. So I bit the bullet and reinstalled with the autoloader. I've been running for a week on this with NO problems to speak of, including much, much better battery life, faster photo and music search, faster transition to make and receive calls and Android performance is very good. This is THE best release I have had on my z30 ever.

Well it is. Goes to show the variability involved in the update process with regards to technique and method. I bet if you used Sachesi to install the 2339 core on top of what you have right now, you would see no change to your battery life.

    Z30STA100-5/10.3.2.2339
I use autoloaders. I have no interest in trying it again. My Classic works great, since I put .2252 on it. Perhaps there is something different with the radio, or it works better for certain phones Idk. I've offered this suggestion to a few ppl on CB using .2339 that were having issues with a hot phone and bad battery and they said it works better too. So it's not just me.

Got it., I stand corrected. I personally haven't had any problems with the latest official OS.

My point was simply that asking for a leak which may not be any better and unstable isn't really a better option.

Thanks BigBadWolf. I probably should have stated that in the first place.

I jumped the gun. I get frustrated when people complain about leaks. I personally don't use them because I don't want to deal with those issues. Use at your own risk. Fixing an official release with a leak to me doesn't seem to make sense.

    Cheers
