Radio 2340 on Passport AT&T has poor reception compared to prior release. Any others? Is there a fix?

So... anyone else have this issue on this release??

When I answer/place calls, the phone briefly turns on, and the off, the speaker phone, within the first second or two of the call.

(it's not my face doing it)

Plus, the proximity sensor in general is unpredictable.

Yes that's the word- erratic. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. No complaints for the rest tho it's quite a stable build

So I'm seeing a few different opinions on radio reception on AT&T... for the record, I'm on a passport with OS 10.3.0.738 (still have flash!). Phone does well with current OS, but seems a lot of good enhancements in the 10.3.2 space (other than loosing flash).

Any others care to chime in on AT&T radio? Got to imagine its as good or better than whats included in 10.3.0... but wanted to consult with anyone that's updated before pulling the trigger.

    Thanks!

I had problems with over heating, sluggish system and battery drain for last two weeks, than I made a hard reset yesterday (holding both volume rockers down for 10 sec.). I have fantastic battery and snappy os now, 88% after medium usage (several phone calls, one loooong skype and many emails). Life is good again!

My phone got bricked trying to downgrade. And finally realized that there was an official update from blackberry link released a while ago. All good now.

I am on 2339 on my Passport AT&T. This latest leak seems to have worse radio than before. If there is a week wifi and strong LTE it is really slow to load Web pages. If I turn the wifi off, then it flies. They must be forcing it to use wifo only if there is any signal at all. So with wifi off, it must use the LTE.

Interesting - thanks for the reply. My original OS did the same thing - if there was any Wifi in range, it would try to pull that signal and would really screw with data/downloads. Turning WiFi off did the same thing, switch to cell and it would blaze.

I decided to take the plunge last night to this OS... Coming from 10.3.0 to this is a nice change - lots of UI enhancements, and it is noticeably faster on the interactions and android app launches.

My radio does not seem to be any different from previous, but it's only been 12 hours since the install, so I'll keep an eye on it and report back later.

Thanks to everyone in the thread... make these updates so easy!

I think I've noticed the same thing. Very difficult to troubleshoot it and be sure. I'm tempted to load back the trusty 841 radio and see what happens.

Hey Ken - I found signal on 2240 radio to be very good, but battery was not real swell. So I installed 841 radio and found that signal wise, it was better on 2339 than it was on 2204. It seems to be as good for signal as 2240.

And - it is way better on battery than 2240.

Ugh... so my android apps are not launching anymore on this build on a passport. They will launch just after a device restart, but then will not launch again. Anyone else see this?

It's very subjective, but I think the 841 radio is doing better with wifi and equally well with battery life as compared with the 2340 radio. It's certainly not inferior to 2340. I put 841 on my wife's Z10 with 2339 and it's doing fine so far, too.

I have been on 841 for a few days now - and most definitely it is much better in battery.

Last night I got updated by AT&T or BlackBerry, I don't know which, to the 2240 battery again. Guess I'll have to re-sideload 841 and turn off automatic updates.

Odd - my Z is AT&T locked - I don't have auto updates turned on, but I just checked manually to see if it would show an update because I have 841 radio - said "you have the latest software"

It must have been from BlackBerry, then, not AT&T. Anyway, I'm back on 841 and non-automatic update, and I'll see what happens. I recall there was some sort of "mandatory" OS updates that people couldn't stop even if they were on non-automatic status.

The mandatory "override device settings " OTA update was people who were on anything below 10.3.2 - this was forced by the carriers so they would comply with the anti-theft laws enacted by certain states (like CA where I live). My Z and my wife's Classic were already on 10.3.2 so we didn't get it. (And our devices both have auto update turned off).
