    I've tried it plenty times, no you can't. Has to be the same OS. In my case I had one phone that had 10.2.2941 and the other had a 10.3.2941 and u still couldn't do it. So even with the 10.2 on both, you still need to have the same build on both. ( or whatever the "2941", is called)

    Its actually quite easy with Darcy's tool to change (the manifest) to an equal or early os version. That said you may experience some issues from 10.3 back to 10.2.xxxx.xxxx just based on OS compatibility issues.

    Best bet is to simply keep backups from older versions. I have a backup of every OS I have ever loaded - granted I would not get some messages, etc back, but my main settings and apps would be there.

    In my experience, with link you can restore everything except settings (so app data + media), main thing I miss from settings is texts so I use a third party app to back up and restore el texts, oh and because for some reason password keeper is tied in with settings I export my password file to sd card, the rest I can deal with but as said above keeping a back up in each OS os best
