I bought my Classic unlocked from Selfridges (effectively Carphone Warehouse) and haven't been able to get my phone to recognise an OTA upgrade to 10.3.28xx no matter what I do.

    I've tried:
    • Removing the SIM before doing a check
    • Trying the upgrade check with Three, Vodafone and O2 SIMs
    • Rebooting the phone after each SIM change
    • Trying all this from both Settings on the phone and BlackBerry Link on a Mac

Regardless, I am told that 10.3.2.2639 is the latest version available. Considering that the phone was bought unlocked and isn't tied to any one carrier, isn't it bad form for BlackBerry to be preventing people from upgrading the software on their phones?

I know using Sachesi Blitz is a quick way to upgrade, but each time I've used it in the past my phone has gotten progressively slower; and I don't want to have to reinstall everything from scratch after using an Autoloader.

Has anyone else had luck triggering an OTA upgrade in the UK?

I am on Three UK and got 2876 OTA, but this was probably because I got the phone from Amazon USA, I'd have thought.

Previously I had blitzed to 2813 and it was much better. I find the Android apps now keep saying they have stopped and asking if I would like to wait or close. The battery also doesn't seem to be as good for me either.

Not the best answer due to the differences in where our phones came from. However, I just wanted to recommend 2813 to you over 2876 should you decide to blitz.

Thank you James. 2813 does sound like the better choice. I suppose a blitz is the only option from here so I will just have to bite the bullet.

It's a shame that BlackBerry don't make updating the OS as simple as Apple. Hopefully their future Android phones will use a more transparent method, preferably with no carrier involvement.

If you go with a blitz 2876 - just a note to say you may have an issue deleting apks. This can be resolved by installing the Android bar files from the 2813 os.

This is what I had to do but aside from that all appears to work ok on my passport.

    Enjoy.

I'm still stuck on 2474. Unlocked UK model. Wish I knew why. :-(

You're only "stuck" because you haven't used Sachesi to upgrade to 2876. If you're only interested in OTA updates, why are you in the leaks forum?

    2813 is for Sprint only.

As far as I can tell, 2876 was for unlocked North American devices only. Besides, the Android player is broken.

Perhaps, but at least the Z10 and Q10 aren't responding to OS updates the same way as iPhones of a similar vintage.

    Nothing.

2876's Android runtime doesn't actually delete Android apps, though.

I guess they are waiting for 10.3.3 as this update is pointless for them to approve
