It may effect us when the app emulator is updated to 4.4+ and when ART is no longer experimental. Until then it will make zero difference to BlackBerry users

Yeah, I was referring to the above post from that thread when I spoke about that theoretical scenario of losing android functionality once everything goes to 4.4+ and are ART only based...

    http://forums.crackberry.com/showthread.php?p=10176935

But that won't be for quite some time and Blackberry devs probably already have an idea of what they're going to do about it. So we can just let this topic die I guess...

Getting back to the OP, I've had 1949 loaded for days now, and Medscape has never run better, along with every other Android app I use.

Yik yak still doesn't work. Honestly 1949 has been either a sidestep or a step backwards for me in android apps over 1154 can't tell yet.

Hoping the February OS is actually on par with android devices. At least in user experience in apps.

From a look at the reviews and interweb controversies, that's not an app I have any interest in testing. Any other apps?

Read man. That is not what i said im my first post. I am just wondering why some apps worked great on 10.2.1. And not on 10.3.1.That's too much to even mention here.

Groupme and the Gopro app work.... But I sure do wish they were actually smooth. So jerky compared to a real android phone..

I wonder where the bottleneck is.

But then you have apps like Spotify which feel native. That's what confuses me. What is it that makes the difference?

Well it's not working for me. It works for a while and then it just gets stuck. I get this screen a lot.

We are running android on a BlackBerry, so I wouldn't expect perfection. That some you use work well, leads me to believe it's more the app than the runtime.

I was getting that on the previous OS, and clicking wait resulted in immediate resumption. On 1949 I haven't had that yet, but I haven't played with Medscape for more than 10min at a time either.

Say, is there a Medscape that will work properly on the latest BB 10.3 release?

Here's a thought. BlackBerry might not want Google Play Services because of possible security vulnerabilities in them that could open up some sort of attack vector into the core OS? Just had this thought and thought it might have been worth putting out there.

Good question. Considering that native apps are even more rare, they should work on full support of android system and the Google play store by default.

Sadly, BlackBerry will look like an android fork release, but at least three are going to solve the app gap problem.

Yes, ideally they would at least emulate Google play services so apps that required them had some sort of BlackBerry equivalent API they could access. I can't imagine it would be that hard for a large part. Maybe there are some they simply cannot emulate because they access Google servers in ways that Google does not allow third parties to.

Yeah, when it comes to other manufacturers actually accessing any Google stuff aside from the source code for Android, they don't play well with others unless they sign on to the agreement, which in this case would remove the BlackBerry10 part of the phone
