Hm, all those things listed (except VPN, medical devices) are usually done on a desk, a place where usually a phone should not be the primary tool.

I am yet to see a professional photographer using Android to edit photos or an Architect using AutoCAD. Amateurs, sure.

My point was that apps aren't "just for kids". I came up with this list in 30secs just to provide an off the cuff example. I'm sure if I sat down, I could come up with an awful lot more.

On one of b1azes comments he said that he doubted that android version, if it was to happen, would not be available on prior devices like the Passport unless some sort of loader became available which probably wouldn't be released from BlackBerry themselves.

I'm still out on the matter, not sure which direction to go in. I don't want to lose bb10 however I do get sick at times of having to do workarounds for certain apps. If it wasn't for the fact the slider was my favourite BlackBerry phone ever I would probably give up on BlackBerry but mainly because of the messing around.

The uncertainty is toxic for BlackBerry, how many people must be holding back on buying a device right now to see what's happening. For instance, the Passport SE is shipping with bb10 but has been supposedly leaked running an android skin. This begs the question are they going to have a choice of two os or will people who have just bought the se find themselves with a no longer supported as with the playbook debacle?

If it's the latter and that user would like to have had the android version I'm guessing there will be a lot of miffed customers about. Anyone with doubt in their mind will be waiting to see how this pans out, net total, no devices being bought.

To me the only benefit of android on BlackBerry would be more compatible apps. That would be nice but the bb10 os far out weighs that benefit for the waybi use my phone.

Hopefully if BlackBerry decide to go down that route the skin is very similar to how bb10 looks and works now.

Looks like there exists some kind of a alpha/beta version of Android Lollipop on Passport. This video shows one running on Passport SE.

Will BlackBerry actually release a loader for installing Android OS replacing BB10 altogether on existing Passport? That remains to be seen.

When does a BB OS10 coming out for Android hardware finally begins, so that all this winching about "we need Android OS for BlackBerry" will finally stops.

On the other hand Android phones must be rotten bad that so many of comments demanding BlackBerry hardware with Google spyware Android as main OS,

Still don't get it either buy a Android phone with Google OS or a Apple iPlonker with iOS or a M$ phone with windows or just be happy with a BlackBerry phone with OS10 what's the problem?

Speaking of "getting things done". The irony my brother. But I'm with you a 100%. One may even argue that the experience of native Android also counts, but that's subjective as well.

It is only me to think that "BBdroid" or this Android OS for Passport and Venice later will just be an hybrid with current BB OS 10?
I really don't think that BlackBerry will leave its OS in that way...
Maybe something like what is doing Microsoft and Ubuntu? A cross systems OS? Will be so interesting I have to say, maybe current bb os with an improved android runtime?
    I don't know

Since Android is open source, it would be very easy to modify code to have many BB10 features. I'm wondering how the security side of it will turn out. The app side, I'm happy with Android. I do think I'd be floored if it didn't have the hub though... and I like task switching in BB10 better than android but oh well.
