Searched and read a good bit but have found little on this.

    Currently:
    Z10 - 10.3.1.2072
    Passport - 10.3.1.2480

Since I upgraded to 10.3.1.xxxx a few weeks ago the "CONTACTS" app no longer has the alphabet bar on the right side. I am assuming this is the same in most/all 10.3.1.xxxx updates as this is the case with all versions I've tried.

    Is this an oversight??
Will it come back in subsequent OS updates??

I read where someone mentioned just search "W" to go the W's............that does not work. Searching "W" will give you every name and company with a W in the name, etc.

Thanks for any info!! IMO this feature makes locating contacts much easier and I use/used it routinely. Much quicker to tap a letter and make a short scroll than typing 4-10 letters to get a name up, especially if you type the way I do

    Thanks again for any info??

Lol, I hadn't even noticed it was gone until it was pointed out to me. On my Passport, I just start typing the name and bingo.

It's been dropped for physical keyboard devices only.

    Ok....I'm a moron.

Thought I had checked my Z10. If I did I'm blind, it's there alright.

Every time I go into contacts on my passport I wait for the alphabet bar to load .......and when they don't I type/search.

I would certainly prefer the alphabet bar on all devices. IMO it is the most efficient 1 touch/tap (and 1 handed) way to locate contacts. Typing 4-10 characters (and using both hands) every time ducks!! With over 900 contacts simply swiping through the list is not an option.

I will simply experiment with assistant or try to find some more efficient tool.

    Thanks for replies!!!!!!

We need a speedy scroll method. Ideally the same way the scroll works for pictures in the gallery view, which was better in earlier os releases where it sideloaded the dates, still good in later releases just a little laggy trying to do previews.

Typing to search is great but sometimes you can't remember someone's exact name but kind of remember a letter or someone else their contact was close to.

I have over 3,500 contacts and would really like to be able to scroll at times, seems like an easy thing for them to do with core os cascades
