After recently getting my Z10 and sideloading some android apps and since Skype not working, the issue of OS updates came to my attention as a way of bug fixing.

There are few options and some have tutorials explaining how to install but so far I have not found any explanation on the advantages of the different leaks, on what type of issues will they solve, etc.

Why is Skype not working? What os version are you on? Do your side loaded apps work?

Please try to delete and reinstall from BlackBerry World.

Regarding leaks try the latest 10.1 leak from this forum if you like.
    But please, please, please, please
read the instructions and the disclaimer before you do anything.

I already did it, still didn't work properly.

About the OS leaks, what are the differences between them, what sets them apart, what bugs do they fix, what type of improvements they bring?

I varies really. But the advantages for the most part is not only the bugs it fixes but the added features such as simple password. (kinda like the iPhone password) unfortunately that's a 10.1 MR function the forever email was fixed instead of having a 30-90 day limit. There's tons of advantages possibly to many to list. Leaks are a good thing but you can't simply ask which one is the best. Just have to try then at your own risk. See which one works the best for you.

I have this idea that the latest leak will have the latest features but will also have more bugs.

As someone that needs the phone and doesn't have any replacement for the Z10 I would prefer a stable working version

Does not mean it will have more bugs. All OS releases official or not will have some bugs. As the builds get higher the more common bugs get fixed, but may cause newer bugs. It's a risk you take on any OS not just a a leak.

Not true. I've had a leaked OS work fine while an official release caused issues for my BlackBerry(s).

soo, dont run a leak. pretty simple. if you have all these concerns and want as you put it, "stable" answer is pretty simple IMHO.

I'm on Verizon 10.2.0.810. My Apps that do not work so far: Sounds for BBM, Gallery, Map Browser, and Leo's RC Simulator (sideload). On restart my Contact list seems to duplicate my sim card contacts. Other than those issues, it's fast and very smooth

Agree with you Blacklatino! Most of the time the leaks that are put out by devs (which are all signed off on by BB) are better than the "official" ones that come out and are outdated when they do. The Leak builders are on 10.2 and have been for a while now while AT&T just released 10.1.2121. I'm running Mecca's leaked .4651 and its buttery smooth with zero problems. You might want to give that one a try and its a full package with only one file to execute. Mecca packages his leaks and hybrids in one file so anyone can do it. Leaks are perfectly safe.

I have been cautious with the leaks because I cannot afford to make a mess out of it.

Does this leak that you mention fix Skype?
