    Hi

I have had this leak installed second day now and my battery is doing this :

    2141 battery life-img_20140219_132340.png

What is causing it to drain so quick???

Does it still need to settle in?

    Use it less?

The common ones: Use wifi when around it. Turn it off when not.
    Lower brightness
    Turn off NFC/Location/Bluetooth.
Change your email to sync and not push. Change the pull to a larger increment(I.e. 2-4 hours)
    Use the dark theme.

I will test your theory, just updated to .2141 on Feb 15th, thus far battery has been horrendous. By your logic everything should clear up in a few hours.

I thought it was depending of how many emails you receive?

Don't know battery life improved hut I think so because now my Z10 is.running much cooler now. No more pocket heater same with 1925/1926 combo.

Loved it in winter, now with the current OS my Z10 is much cooler

yes i was worried, my battery was lasting for 5 hours after full charge, 3 days after the system stabilizes and it last more than 1 day, normaly 2 days

I feel the battery life is better on this OS am getting a full day with good amount if use.

Five emails all on push and I believe push takes up less juice then pull. But then if you get a lot of mails like me and check and reply constantly then the consumption is definitely more.

Setting the mail to pull and synch every two hours practically defeates the purpose of owning a smartphone in my opinion.

This one seemed to take a bit longer to settle, but I'm now easily getting through the day without even thinking about having to charge. 4 email accounts, lots of texting and BBM, a few apps. I will admit to being a bit worried over the weekend when I felt I had to charge mid-day, but no more.

There is no such thing as software settling. Firmware is firmware, it works the same every time. Initial battery drains are large due to syncing accounts, adding programs, lots of time with the LCD on. Battery life is initially perceived as shorter due to the high processing taking place as you sync/customize.

1925 and this version for me (heavy user/road warrior) I get 4 to 5 hours. Not great at all, in my humble opinion these latest releases have chewed the battery.

There are a number of threads in the leaked/beta forums discussing battery fixes. There are options to load earlier radio versions which some say helps tremendously. Read through those threads though as some folks had soft bricks not being able to downgrade the official radio files of 1925 especially on Verizon. Not sure what happens when you try it on this release.

Happy to hear that for you, again usage/battery life varies. There are many people not having the same success as you and it is clearly documented in these threads. As I mentioned my battery is toast in roughly the same time frames as yours.

To me as a fairly heavy user the battery is ok. Probably 10 hours or so. Then I don't grumble.

Absolutely right. Once your email accounts with contacts and calendars, and social media apps finish syncing, and of course app downloading finishes that is it for "settling in." That should take a few hours to half a day at most. After that it's just how you use your phone.

As for with the blackberry and even over the years im certain it has gotten better, but I remember back when I had the original Iphone and the 3G push was a battery DRAIN. I suppose old habits die hard and ever since then I have always just used pull. I don't have many emails throughout the day and rarely are they important at all.

Wifi on mine all the time.
    Have never adjusted brightness setting.
    NFC and bluetooth always off.
    Push 2 accounts.
    Dark theme.

I could, but do not, squeeze two days out of the battery.

Been trying desperately not to chime in here - or anywhere else that talks about reduced battery life for that matter. Nonetheless, I've just about had it with the battery life on my Z30 since the upgrade to the latest OS .1925 (barring the release .2141 some users seem to be getting). Since the upgrade my battery life sucks. I used to get two days (easy!) out of it when I first got the phone, then after the upgrade it became a crapshow. Barely a day now. No "settling" OS here either - I've had this OS since it got released. BlackBerry really needs to look at what is causing this obvious battery drain - they magically turned my Z30 battery into a Z10 battery!
