I think the behavior the OP described, which I've been able to reproduce, is a bug. But it's not a but that I even noticed until reading this thread, because I don't use Active Frames the way the OP does. I don't really look at them for much information. For me, they're like workflow bookmarks. If I park a process in an active frame, it's because I need to get back to it, to complete something. Otherwise, I close the app. So my active frames function as a list of things I need to get back to, and for me that's all.

Hmm.. you're complaining the leaked OS OP. Everyone knows that the leaked might be buggy. Wait for the official OS. If that problem still exist after the official OS, then...
    Yep.

I know it seems stupid that it's not official but there is a chance that this isn't a bug. Maybe blackberry are trying to encourage active frame use by breaking apps if they don't use the widget style view ? Maybe it's a placeholder for a change where it the app shows an icon or splash screen (otherwise why would the frame flash in the same way it does when changing into an active frame) ? I don't know blackberries intentions.

The purpose of this thread, now it's apparent that the issue is not just on my devices, is to let BlackBerry know that at least some users don't like the change (assuming it's not just a bug). It's much easier to change these things before they go live than to revert them later.

Other than cb (I hope BlackBerry read cb to get some free beta testing feedback ), does anyone know a good way of feeding these things back to blackberry, I'm not an official beta tester so where do leak users report problems with leaks?

Mine works the way you want it to work.
Open settings and go to network connections then minimize. Open maps let GPS kick in and then minimize. Both show what I saw when maxed.

After opening both apps again they are in the same place.

Now go back into your settings and change to something else, notifications? Now minimise and see what happens....

If this works on yours there's hope it's a bug and a few more wipe/reloads will sort it!

Did you follow the EXACT steps he mentioned? You have to open, minimize, maximize again, go to another screen, then minimize again

since this is being reported by some and not others, I think its probable that it's a bug that will be ironed out in the official OS...

I'm using a Z10STL100-3/10.3.1.1949 and I have the same behaviour as the OP. Didn't notice it until seeing the thread.

I can see it being a problem if you used the feature before. Not something I was aware of before now.

Let me clarify. On your device, open settings.

    Minimise the app.

    You should see this.

Open the app and go to network settings.

Minimise the app again, you should see:

    Now wait....

If your phone is not on .2072 your screen will stay like this. If you are on .2072 you will see a flash and boom....

Hmm mm, let's open settings again....

    Jarring no?

I don't have that issue but a bug that has been on ALL 10.3.1 leaks so far is this:
Open device monitor and then quickly swipe out to the active frames. Now it'll screw up until you close it and reopen it

And the only way to avoid the problem is to wait until device monitor completely loads and then swipe up

Ok, here is how it works:

From the home screen, swipe down from the top. Tap settings and then network and connections. Then minimize. Result is that minimized window shows what was last seen maximized.

Allow me a question on the side: That wallpaper, where can I find it? I changed mine but wanted to revert to that one. I had that on there after OS install. I looked everywhere on the device, and it's not even an option to choose from the protected ones on the device.

This one works. Anyway, I'm not that concerned about Settings' Active Frames, other than how the Active Frames of the Music app behaves. Most of the time, it is stuck in the previous song or way beyond.

Dude,2072 are leaked version, not official one.
So don't blame BlackBerry for those inconvenience.

For me,2072 works fine on my Z30 and my Q10.

Verizon q10 running latest leak and have this same issue. Not a device ending bug by any means but is annoying nonetheless. Tested this out using a cascades app I've been developing.

Can confirm first hand active window use to always display the last thing shown from the app. After the latest OS update it seems to revert to some saved picture of what the app looked like a few seconds after launch.

For anyone who browses NSFW content on their phone this can turn into a huge problem with unpredictability of what image may appear on your active frame at any time.

Edit* did a bit more testing and Android active frames appear to behave "normally" this is a problem only with native BlackBerry apps.

It's done that way according to an inside programmer so as to save on cash memory and prevent other apps from using most of your ram while running in the background, so I'm told. Does that make sense to any of you?

I get the same buggy behavior too. Hopefully this is noticed by BB and fixed when it the official 10.3.1 comes out. I had noticed active frames showing old info on apps that I leave open and return to later.
