Verizon in sachesi has been down, it's their side, not app or sachesi, probably has something to do with the premature update

OS version for debrick files is set to undefined, even though the app gets the right version for the URL.

Thanks, wasn't parsing the XML like I wanted for the debrick. Fixed OP updated with version 0.3.

Here's the thing, why come here to say it's useless?

What if I have a vpn/proxy and can use it to do ota installation of bars? It's not useless to me, then there are those who probably don't have an Internet service for their pc, but they have 4G on their phones, useless for them? Or what about those who choose to pay for Sideswype or barinstall in order for do ota bar install, useless for them?

It's useless for you because you can't have ota bar installation, maybe you have an Internet service at home. But that's the thing, your not entitled to speak as if the app us useless on the whole.

You can install them, just not from the app itself.
The vpn install works. I use it every once in awhile.

No, it only searches BB10 files.

I agree. I simply don't have the resources though to run a VPN to let OTA installations happen, and with it being a free app that won't change (I also am not entirely sure how to set that up). So hopefully BlackBerry will change that for us at some point.
How does Sachesi manage this? Maybe that can give you a clue on how to implement it. As far as I know Sachesi is not using any sort of VPN but is rather somehow invoking the installer at a specific IP address. Assuming the whole process happens on the device and the only thing that Sachesi does is invocation, you could talk to localhost (127.0.0.1) and perform the same invocation directly on the device. Any comments on this?

Sachesi runs on your computer, which is not installing directly from the device. The reason localbar doesn't work like it did on the PlayBook is that BlackBerry has blocked the network functionality to use any loopback. There is a lot behind the scenes that goes in with this kind of communication that either isn't available to be used by developers or simply is not present.

It's certainly possible, although the URL scheme for PlayBook downloads is somewhat esoteric (which is why it took a month to find a working radio for 1753). However, since the PB has a snowball's chance in hell to see an update, then there aren't any new links to look out for besides the ones that are already known about.

Right, it's not that it can't be done, it's just that since the PlayBook is not likely to get an update so I didn't bother including it in the app.

This version won't. I suppose I could make one if there is enough demand.

Why download to the phone if you can't install from the phone?
With SideSwype, you can, and if it's only 10 to install the app directly on the device instead of plugging in the app etc.. well, let me put it this way. 411 service from a mobile device costs $1.50 in Canada... when you can use your smartphone to go on the internet and look up the phone number on a site like canada411.ca for free, why does this service exist and why is it so expensive? Well, because some people get desperate or are lazy.

    This + SideSwype + 10 = instant gratification.

    Thanks SCrid2000!

Interesting...I wonder if some kind of an external loop-back would be possible...

You mean like what SideSwype does via a VPN? Or what localbar does with a proxy?

I don't personally know how to set that up so I can't include it into the app. I also can't provide VPN use to people because I don't even have a VPN.

    Very interesting app.

Would it be possible to enter a release software version (and no country or carrier code) so that we would get the latest software wherever we are ?
