I've read with 10.3, when your phone is asleep and you get a notification, the screen will light up showing the lock screen w/notifications but wondering, will it show each notification w/ a preview or just a little icon with a number by it indicating the number of new emails for example?

Must be a setting somewhere... mine doesn't light up with a new notification. Just a sound and light show.

It's a setting. You have to enable it. It's not on by default. However when you get a alert it just light up like it would do if you woke it by hitting the power/sleep button.

I forgot where the setting was though. I went back to 10.2.1. I think it's somewhere in notification settings or in advance interactions. Somewhere around there.

Does it show notifications like 10.1 or does it individualize each one with a preview. I'd like it to show separate like my droid.

It shows it with a preview just like in 10.2.1 where you see the notification with some info of the notification and if you tap it, it takes you to the app from which it came. Also there is a new feature as well where you can have the notification just be the senders name. No info of the text or email would be shown until you unlock the device.

The settings can be found here. Settings > Notifications > Lock Screen Settings

So I gather, if you leave that 'show sender only' unchecked, it WILL show similar to that screen shot I show a couple posts up?
(rather than just a little icon saying like 2 new emails)

Nope, just like this here. But if you enable the sender only it will only show the senders name. And if you tap it will unlock the phone and take you to the message.
