I'm not holding my breathe for customizable accent colors. This is coming from blackberry, who still does not provide a customizable option for the LED colors and how long have they had an LED for? Forever....I hope I'm wrong though!!

    Haha that's true.

Frankly the thing I really want is an easier way to access the desktop version of Web pages.

Same here. User defined settings is what people are looking for. It's a major reason people seem to like Android.

Nah, the main advantage of the red is in the fact BlackBerry is going oled for the screens of alot of devices. Red is much less enter than blue, so causes less burn out(or in) than blue would. Especially in areas where it's the same pixels would activate in many different screens.

The thing is, this is an easy change that will make the look more distinctive (cyan is used fairly frequently in Android for accents, too).

There are two distinct benefits to the red:
    1. It makes accents more visible to the USER, and may enhance usability by drawing attention to specific controls/elements
    2. Maybe more important, it makes the accent more visible to ANYONE CASUALLY LOOKING AT THE USER'S PHONE, which might wind up prompting discussion.

My own take is that it's almost an automotive instrument look. Personally, I find the cyan to be a nice, restrained color. But I see potential in using red. For me it's hardly a hill to die on and there might be some benefits.

This is what they should do for 10.3, I totally agree with you. We need customization. I for one hate the RED, to each their own. I would like the option to pick my colour. That is not hard to implement.

Make it customizable (I'd like to see maroon). But, it's yet another feature that AT&T users won't see

I can see three negative points to this change as well. First, red is the colour of error and warning. Too much red may conflict with system messages that use red too. Second, red is a fairly aggressive and noticeable colour, when compared with a more calming blue. It could draw attention away from what matters. Third, BlackBerry should consider carefully whether a colour change is worth disappointing existing users. Thus far I can see disagreement here, this is not helping BlackBerry. If a colour change is coming, then it really should be as part of a customisable accentuation, not a top-down approach.

Personally, I dislike the red colouring and to me it doesn't look good on the bright theme.

So any color is good as long as older eyes can distinguish the words through the highlight. LOL

I learned this years ago as one of my clients is colour blind. I wrote the software to use red and never thought about it. He couldn't see the red data. Very bad choice of colours if they go ahead with this. I never use red in my software now unless I get someone with colour blindness to check it.

I could care less about the accent colour. The real achievement noted in the N4BB article is the "Personal Assistant". This feature will add another layer of efficiency to an already fantastic piece of technology.

the color in the picture appears to be more of a burnt orange than a bright red like before. I wouldn't mind the burnt orange color tbh I think it looks great! I wasn't a fan of the red though.

We could see a "high-contrast" theme for the colorblind. As far as that goes, I'm not clear on how well they see the current Cyan, either, so I'm not sure the red actually represents a deterioration.
