10.3.3 by all accounts will deliver no real visible changes to most end users so it's really 10.3.4 that is needed probably!

If you think 10.3.3 isn't making any changes... why do you expect more from 10.3.4? Will be even less of a reason to invested in BB10 development over the coming year. Devices will all be EOL and out of stock, user base will much, much smaller...

True. Why even bother with 10.3.3 if 10.3.4 is supposedly the final update. Especially if everything is working perfectly with your current OS version.

I have a sneaky suspicion that 10.3.4 will be the final update for BlackBerry 10. The reason why I say this is because BlackBerry announced 2 software update versions so quickly and the 10.3.4 update could roll-out nearly 2 years after the announcement.

Normally we only hear about the next update coming and not the next 2 coming. This makes me think they have already made decisions about the OS.

What people sometime forget is that, if BlackBerry stop pushing updates to their phones. This doesn't mean you will wake up one morning and the phone will stop working. The phone will still perform all the basic functions that any phone can do.

Okay i agree with all you said.

But what Lord Chen the powerful BlackBerry Killer forgets is that BlackBerry is neither not a basic phone nor a basic Functions tool.

Fair point. But, will the lack of update not have an impact on the phones security? Take for example the "heartbleed" virus incident. What's to stop similar incidents from happening, and with the lack of "basic security" updates, we will be sitting ducks!

So, whilst the phone will very much still function, I believe that security will / may eventually be compromised.

So a new anti-phishing feature in the browser in 10.3.3 is not a change? Because they did implement that feature in the latest 10.3.3 dev OS.

I've heard that 10.3.3+ is the dumping ground for whatever they had almost ready before.

How does an anti-phishing feature work? Does it figure out when an incoming email is a phish? Sounds good if it works.

Dunno how it works, I'm not a dev so I lack technical expertise. But Firefox and Chrome on desktop also have this feature.

The longer 10.3.3 takes to get pushed OTA, the better it is for BlackBerry. Why? While 10.3.3 remains unreleased, Chen can continue to state that BlackBerry 10 will receive two further updates.

    No one knows for sure.

It's the last one announced anyway. I also doubt there will be sufficient BB10 users left at that point to warrant further attention.

True, but if there is another update after it, it will most likely be 10.3.5. Definitely not something like 10.4. Any update will be welcomed.

I fail to see what update information has to do with user base. I don't see Apple or Google announcing future updates either until they officially show it to the public (or unofficially when something gets leaked before that).

I'm saying that in a year or two, there may be no need to update BB10 any further if there are less than a million users left using the platform.

He has neither confirmed nor denied that. In fact, one of them has to be BB10 based 'cause he wants to keep BB10 alive for a specific market.

But then how will they fulfill their dream of pursuing BB10 to fill the security sector? They can't do that without at least one new device.
