    Hi all !

    I have a Z10 STL-3 with a Verizon release OS 10.3.1.1877, SR 10.3.1.1877 and Radio 10.3.1.2727

Planning to upgrade to 10.3.2, but the problem is, I am a wee bit perplexed about the versions -Do I go in for 10.3.2.858 or 10.3.2.2339 ?

Been checking the threads for both and have the auto loaders and Blitz files ready to go, but on the edge, as of now.

Could a kindly soul with a moment to spare, push me in the right direction, so to speak.?

    Thanks in advance!

Of course, YMMV with either OS. I know folks that are using each one and are very happy with it. I took the update to 858 for my Verizon Z30, but I wasn't thrilled with the battery life or with the WiFi connectivity. It didn't seem to hold a connection as well as I'd have liked. 858 wasn't bad by any definition, but it seemed a little step back for my device in my area. I loaded 2339 with Sachesi and haven't regretted it at all. The battery on my year-old Z30 has never been better and my WiFi radio is rock-solid.

There is the same question in the Z10 section.
I was on 2339 first and it was very good on my Z10. I installed 858 yesterday and will see how it performs. Right now I can say that 2339 seems to have a better performance.

    Thanks all

The way I understand it, it shouldn't be a problem upgrading to 2339 from 858 considering that the 858 is a lesser build. However on Sachesi, it doesn't not show any update for STL-3. It only shows an update for STL-4 for Verizon, although it says its for STL-2/3/4

I have downloaded the files ( all 241 of them ) but when I try to install, nada.Zip.Zero. This is not my first time, but I cant seem to get the update for STL-3. Sachesi is set to 302(US) and 480 (VZW).

    Any thoughts?

If you want the VZW release, try 311 and 480 for Verizon. I believe that 302 is Canada. But remember that Sachesi likely won't give you a return on a search for STL100-3 if you're looking with Verizon's ID since VZW didn't have the -3 model. You'll have to search for the -4 model on Verizon.

You say that the install does not work. How are you doing it? Does it fail in Sachesi or with the autoloader?

Thanks Underway, not particular about the Verizon release, so I can use a auto loader, but I hate the thought of restoring everything. A blitz file would be nice.

Verizon did give me the files for STL-4. I grabbed the links and downloaded all through a D/L manager. When I try installing it via Sachesi, (the latest release BTW), and try to install from a folder, pointing it at the downloaded folder does not work.

Either the downloaded files are corrupt ( extremely unlikely) or the files itself are not compatible (STL-4 ?) or I am doing something else wrong.

    Cant quite figure this out.

I'm assuming that you're using Sachesi and have a Z10 STL-100-4. If that's the case, then all you need to do is extract the files and apps first using Sachesi.

In Sachesi, go to the "Extract" tab. Then hit the "Extract Signed" button. Navigate to the folder where the 10.3.2 files were downloaded. It should recognize the file that you need to extract the files from. Choose that file (the debrick) and all it to create the signed file. Then, hit the "Extract Apps" button, select the signed file and a folder with the apps will be created.

Combine the apps, the radio file, and the core os file into one folder. Then, use that folder (drag it into the install window after you've connected your Z10 to the computer and confirmed that it's connected to Sachesi) and the OS will update.

    Good luck!

    dman2009, thanks for the response.

I do not have STL-4. I am on STL 3 and I am familiar with Sachesi up to the point of making my auto loaders etc etc, except that most of the times I am too caught up in my daily grind, so tend to be a bit lazy.

This one I cant figure out....on another thought....will the files for Z30 plus SQC -3 work for the Z10? Sachesi throws up this option as well

I download the update files one time, and use them for both my Z30 and my son's Z10. You'll have to ensure that you download the Z10 radio into the folder. If you are using blitz folder, it should have all the radios and will should load the correct one.

I have 2339 on a VZ Z30 w/radio 2340 and software release 2226. Overall result is much better battery life. No dropped calls. Wifi is steady. No observable glitches. Had I waited another day, I would have received the VZ pushed update.

Because 2339 is newer build, I didn't saw at all to 858. As of now happy with 2339 but waiting for new leak. It's already two weeks on this OS.

I found much the same results. used 858 on my VZW Z30 for a few days and the battery life was miserable. Loaded 2339 and it has been MUCH MUCH improved.

    My view on the issue:

If the two builds are nearly identical, I will go with Non-Carrier every time.

There is nothing that a Carrier can add to a build other than two things:
    1) Better calibrated radio file (which in this case doesn't seem to be true)
    2) Carrier specific "freebie" apps such as Verizon Visual Voicemail, which I don't use and thus don't care for. (I use youmail)

What carrier CAN do is lock down things and otherwise pose limitations on features and functionality.

No Thanks. For over 8 years, Verizon did absolutely nothing that had my best interests in mind and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

PS: I've bought my last 4 Blackberries at full retail price, just so that they don't kick me off of my truly unlimited data plan. If I'm ever forced off of my unlimited data plan, bye-bye Verizon
