No they are not necessary , they are info files. The only one you load is the biggest file out of the three.

@ Madh, in simple words, checksum strings are required to check the integrity of a file. Thurask have them in database for the reference of more technically inclined users perhaps beside also making sure that files are coded properly.
"A checksum is a count of the number of bits in a transmission unit that is included with the unit so that the receiver can check to see whether the same number of bits arrived. If the counts match, it's assumed that the complete transmission was received. searchsecurity.techtarget.com/definition/checksum"

Sorry, but maybe I misunderstood something.

Did you say you did a blitz upgrade to 2204 and then proceeded with a restore?

    Z30STA100-5/10.3.2.2204
He said he autoloaded 798 over whichever 10.3.1.x he was on, and then blitzed 2204 over the fresh 798. What isn't fully clear is when did he restore, if after autoloading 798 (most reasonable guess) or after blitzing to 2204.

This is correct. I did the restore after the 798 autoload. It was a selective restore - or as selective as you can get in BB10. I was on 10.3.1.2744 before that.

No reason to restore after a blitz.

Agreed. I was just not clear on your description.

The same contact issue happens for me too as you describe. I did not run autoloader either though.

Edit: It now works! I went into my contacts app, and opened up custom notifications. Came back to this screen and it now works properly.

Finally loaded this up last night on my AT&T Z10 . It was a Blitz load over 798 that I autoloaded earlier this week. The 798 autoload was the first fresh autoload since jumping to 10.3.1 from 10.2.1 last October.

Although, this time I did restore settings and apps from a backup - but not the system apps. And, from the apps that I did restore, I de-selected any that were OS provided - like the calculator and compass apps. I also did not restore the BlackBerry Runtime - that caused me big problems in the past.

Most everything seems fine. Overall, going through the OS does seem smoother with no major hiccups. I loaded my personal and work EAS emails. My work contacts and calendar items came over just fine. I still just automatically delete the Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, and Linkedin apps first thing after the reboot.

Only one thing doesn't work that I first noticed in 798, and I don't know if doing the restore when I loaded 798 caused it, or if it's an actual bug - because the problem is still there in 2204. If anyone who did a clean autoload and NOT a restore can check this, it would help.

The problem is when trying to add contact notifications. While in "Settings" > "Notifications", go to the bottom of the page > "Contact Notifications", when I click the big blue plus button to add a contact, the screen starts to dim as if about to switch to the contact list, but then immediately brightens back up to normal and never actually switches to the list. I can't add a contact from that page. I could in 10.3.1.

Now, I can still add a custom contact notification by editing a contact in the contact app itself. In doing so, those contacts do show up in the list in "Contact Notifications", and the custom notifications set for them still work. I can even edit a contact already in the list while in the "Settings" app. I just can't add new contacts to the "Contact Notifications" through the "Settings" app.

I didn't see anyone else bring this up in this thread, although I kind of briefly scanned through this thread since it originally posted just to try to keep up before I even loaded this up (and I did search with no results). But, again, if someone who loaded this with an autoloader without restoring from a backup could check to see if the contacts list even pops up for them in the "Settings", it would be great to know.

I'd like to know if it is just my phone?

Or, is it a real bug?

I don't think I'll bother re-loading just now since I did get around it by editing the contact entry itself, and everything else seems to be running fine otherwise.

But, when the next one comes out, I may autoload that without any restore.
Have the same issue on mine.

That's right. The question was whether you restored after autoloading and then blitzed, or autoloaded without restoring, blitzed and then restored (if that's even possible).

Now every doubt seems to be cleared, let's see if someone else has the same problem.

By the way, you wrote a very good and precise explanation of both, context and outcome. It should be very easy to verify the extent of your findings.

Already sounds like another restore problem to watch for.

Not a big deal. As I said, I can work around it.

Still, BlackBerry really needs to revamp the backup/restore thing. Get back to the ability to save and restore individual elements in settings and the various apps. Like you could in the Legacy OS. That way you can back up and restore just your complete browser bookmark and tag settings only, if you wanted (which still has no third party access, btw).

This OS has been pretty good for me. Release candidate quality for sure. Consider 10.3.1.2243 which was awful. This is 10x better.

Blitz for All devices including STL100-1 and Z3 going up now. Will post tonight (nearly 3 GB)
