So, I installed the latest leak on my Z10 STL100-2 and I was checking the battery life, I noticed it was great (probably the best since I got this phone).

I changed my SIM without completely pulling the battery off (I'm lazy and I hate restarting the phone), but it didn't work. A 'Technical error' appeared on the top bar instead of carrier name, I was forced to restart the phone. (all of this is most likely irrelevant).

The strange thing is, the battery was around 50%, and after restarting it went up to 60%, after some usage and as i'm writing this it's 52%.

It's been the opposite with the previous leak (if I remember well it's 10.3.1.296) where the battery would go down about 5 percent after restarts.

Has anyone experienced this? Is it a mere bug? Or an enhancement?

Screenshot below, you can notice the slight increase at the end of the graph (also notice that it's showing battery life since last charge, that means the phone was not plugged in).

It could have been possible the battery charge wasn't ready correctly, when I first got my z10 the battery stayed on 0% for a few good hours with fairly heavy usage. Try running the battery completely flat. If it turns off before 0%, you have your answer

Or I'll try restarting again to see if the value will be read correctly.

Yeah it goes up but then it drains rapidly again. I'm going to reinstall the radio file to see if that helps. The battery drain is really bad. I took the battery out for about 45 mins and then put it back and charged to 100% and it lasted a little longer but today its back to draining quickly. Only bad thing about the os.

I'm curious how you got the sim out without pulling the battery out? My stl3 has the battery blocking the sim tray.....

Yes, when trying that just make sure the battery stays in contact with those pins.

I drained the battery and it reached 5% (It increased by more than 10%), so like go1ndr said, maybe it drains faster after the increase.

Please don't ever run a lithium ion battery all the way down. It is extremely hard on them when charging them from 0%. They get hot.

I reloaded the radio file to see if that helps. It used to sometimes solve these battery drain problems with the old 7.0 phones and with the 10.0 /10.1 BB10 phones. Have to wait and see.
RE: sim card removal. The only way is to pull the battery out. You must turn the phone completely off prior to removing the battery to get to the sim card or let your battery cool down/re-polarize the battery. Never pull a battery out of a BB10 phone without it being completely turned off. You will screw up the OS and phone. Some say it won't but I know that it has, so better safe than sorry.

I've always noticed that on my old Z10 - and it's a bug. It doesn't do it on the Z30 (most probably because of the fact the battery is non-removable). It has to do with the battery monitor that displays the percentage, something messes up upon battery pull and probably a normal restart just because you have previously removed the battery from the device. Not too sure how it gets fixed -- if ever.
