Can anyone confirm WFC works on the latest 10.3?

I can confirm that it absolutely does not work. However, it is all about the software.
I have z10 - that I had 10.3 on - and put the OS back to the standard from T-Mobile.10.2.1.2977

As of today, after getting it set up and doing a reboot, the WFC totally works.
But, this does not work on the latest 10.3.0.1154 leak.
I have not idea of Blackberry is going to move the support from 10.2 into 10.3 - but I really hope so. I live in CT, and the T-Mobile coverage is pretty terrible except in the center of towns. At my house, there is no signal. So, wifi calling is pretty much a must.

Just upgraded to 10.3.0.1154 using wipe then autoloader, no restore. At first the wifi calling app said no sim detected..then after a restart the option was grayed and set to "disabled".

I have tried using the 10.3.0.296 radio on 10.3.0.1154 with no luck.
The wifi calling app is still grayed out on disabled.

I tried the same. I really wonder what part of the OS enables this. I imagine that it is baked into the core.

Me too. The wifi calling icon isn't in the top right near the reception bars. I'm hoping it works again in 10.3.1 or else I may seriously consider leaving T-Mobile.

BlackBerry 10.3.1 official release just killed Wi-Fi Calling.....

I am sad to report that this is now dead.....so, my BlackBerry Q10 is going to retirement and I moved into using an iPhone 5S. At least I don't have to deal with this anymore and Wi-Fi calling just works on this iOS.. T-Mobile has no clue when this is going to be fixed...

    Sad, just sad..

And it was an OTA update I got from BlackBerry, so, they did break my Wi-Fi thingo....not good.

Too bad BlackBerry won't alter the BUILT-IN bar file in BB10 that dictates that only the STL100-3 and Q10 TMo variant can do WiFi calling.

BB10 has a set of XML and bar files that adjust various settings based on the SIM card.

This is why AT&T SIM cards trigger uneditable APN's.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but in the old BBOS days we could edit the xml file so we could load other carriers OS on our device. Is it still possible to edit the xml file to remove carrier identities which should in theory open your device up??? Or would it be adding a code so the TMO servers think you have a Q10 instead of a Z30?

    thanks in advance

Late edit: never mind, wifi calling works with 10.3.0.442 as well on q10.
    thanks,

    thanks,
Cool, so did you just keep trying different OS until you found one that worked or did you just load certain files? Just wondering if you picked up any bugs that were fixed in later releases???

I've tried the q10 files in that link, only the first one for q10 (442) gives access to wifi calling. The system is kind of rudimentary and probably full of bugs. I'll see how it works and if I'll keep it. For instance, whatever you do, don't update the bb world! I did separate backups with bb link of the previous 10.2 (apps, settings, media) and it's easy to flip back and forth between trial and errors. Not sure if I will keep this bugged version, but we 'll see.

Late edit: there is no way to use a file manager, either bb native or android, in 10.3.0.442 from that link. And way too many incompatibilities with android apps. So, bye bye 442 and back to 10.2

    Thanks for your pioneering spirit...

Again, back in the day BBOS consisted of a bunch of ".cod" files and some smart person would figure out the right ones for a particular feature. In fact there was a program called BB Shrink that would let you stream line your OS to only the needed cod's, do you know if BB10 has similar files and if we can find just the WiFi calling files and perhaps load them on a newer OS build? this way you cann have the feature with the latest OS...

Sachesi lets you add .bar files (and presumably extract/remove them as well, although I've never done so myself.) But the issue with WFC is not the .bar files for it: it's The Database. BB (at the behest of TMO) maintains a database of whitelisted devices and OS builds for which WFC is enabled. This is the reason why WFC doesn't work on any build one can install. Why it does work on these 10.3.0.x builds, I don't know. Maybe they were whitelisted for testing at one point and never removed.

I guess "the pioneering spirit" is the best way to find out which builds beyond the official TMO-approved 10.2.1 support WFC. So if the last known build was 10.3.0.296, thanks to bbnole's efforts we now know 10.3.0.442 supports it too (but comes with its own set of bugs/glitches.) If someone is willing to test builds beyond that, maybe up until the latest ones or where it's absolutely known WFC will not work--10.3.1 I've read--then we could get closer to finding the newest build(s) that maintain WFC and are hopefully stable or at least tolerable otherwise.

I gave another try to 442. Both 296 and 442 are beta versions for testing (from that link). If someone has a version that allows more freedom in operating, please let us know. With those betas, they don't want you to see the file structure, I suppose. The media player is hidden, no file manager, etc. But one can install some file manager apps from bb world.
The corresponding android version is quite different from 10.2 to 10.3, I saw that in another post. Consequently, my problem was mostly due to the fact that I tried to copy with bb link old apps that don't work on (the android of) 10.3 Not sure if I'm clear, but that's the imagine I have. I don't know much about those OS anyway.
I will see how it works and if I can get all my "old apps" running on 10.3. This means getting other apk, etc.

So it checks both build and device??? It would be hard to fake those especially since both BB and the carrier can see everything...

My daughter has a phone with no call plan and she uses an app to call over WiFi. She loaded it on my iPad mini WiFi and made a call. I wonder if there is an Android version that will work for us. Maybe we can bypass these carrier files...

please let us know how it works. Regarding 442, many apps need to be reinstalled but they generally work. I used Snap and get watchespn, netflix and many other. Whatsapp works only for messaging, the call option doesn't function properly (I pick up the call, but the other phone doesn't realize it and keeps on try to establish a call). So, outside calling on whatsapp, 442 seems to be ok. If anyone has some info on why whatsapp (via snap) wouldn't work, please let me know.

I'm pretty sure Whatsapp is also available in BB App World. Have you tried it?

I did, but I get an error message after installation, that this BlackBerry os is not supported by whatsapp. Well, having wifi calling kind of takes care of this problem, at the end of the day.

Late edit: it turns out that I can place whatsapp calls, all is good. But if I try to answer someone's call, whatsapp crashes when I pick up.

I am sorry if this is off topic, I tried searching and this was the only recent forum thread that seemed relevant. Are there any BlackBerry phones currently for sale new and BlackBerry-supported (in, not from e-bay but from a reliable source) that work on T-Mobile AND support wifi calling. I have owned only BlackBerry phones and am sad to leave the brand, but I must have wifi calling because my work so often leads me stuck inside large steel framed offices. Many thanks in advance.

Q10 for sure, I know you can activate one from eBay, in a T-Mobile store. Maybe z10 too, but check with a store.
