If I want to use an autoloader for my BlackBerry Q10 (T-Mobile USA), do I need to download the radio files & debrick stuff?

No. You just have to download the autoloader file for Q10. Make sure you backup before running the autoloader.

Why don't most people do this if it's easier?

Because this will wipe your device clean & you'll have to setup the phone as new after install.
Also, restoring from a backup usually brings a lot of bugs.

On the other hand, using a non-destructive way (sideloading core os+radio+apps) would not wipe the device & all settings and apps will be safe.
This also takes lesser time to "settle" compared to the autoloader way.

Hence, most people prefer "Non-destructive" update.

Let me ask another question - If there's problems with the 10.3 leak and restoring from a back up brings problems - then why not use a 10.2.1 autoloader? Wouldn't this get rid of the bugs since it's like installing the OS clean?

Yeah. Installing the 10.2.1 autoloader will have the device clean & apparently no bugs in that. But then you won't get the features of 10.3 on that. Right?

People sacrifice the bug-free experience to try out the latest & coolest OSes all the time. For a normal user, it's always recommended to stay with the latest official OS. In this case the latest build of 10.2.1 or 10.2.2 (if in germany)

No. You will need just the Core os & radio file from this thread.
Sideload those & your software & radio will be updated.

For the updated apps, go to a thread named "bar files from 1154 passport os". And download the app bars from there.
There's also a list of new apps in 1154 compared to 1052 in that thread. It's 51 files, if I remember correctly (excluding help files, etc).
Sideload those 51 files & you're good to go.

I thought the 10.3 OS was only for the BlackBerry Classic and the BlackBerry Passport, with 10.3.1 being released later for the other phones? Is this OS compatible or am I missing something?

If it weren't compatible, you wouldn't see it here.
And yes, 10.3.1 is what is officially expected to be released to every BB10 device out there and that will probably be in November.
So if you are cool with it, go ahead and load this up on your device. Remember to grab the right autoloader for your device.

As far as I could see, it doesn't say what device the Radio is for under the VERIZON section - so I asked. Something wrong with that?
    Nothing wrong with asking.

Yes. Don't use an os backup from 10.2.1 to restore settings on a new 10.3 os. Just restore media and apps Unless you want to take a chance on having problems. Backups are to restore to the same os # in case you want to revert back to that os. Generally speaking.

You are right. But the thing is 10.3.1 is the optimised version of 10.3 for old devices. 10.3 is leaked for old devices. The leaked OS is the beta OS that is supposed to be used for testing purposes by closed beta testers. These are not intended for general public.

OK since it's kinda late for me i will do that overnight. In the am if they still don't open i will try to extract the runtime files to load again.

I tried re-loading rutime from 1052 again and it didn't work.
I was using 10.3.0.1130 with 1154 apps and Android apps would not open. I did the hard reboot of my Z30 by holding the volume keys for a few seconds. After it restarted, Android apps worked great.

I have a z30 100-5 GSM model and was using the 10.3.0.1052 build and used Sachesi to upgrade to the 1130 Core + Radio and the 1054 apps and everything is working fine.

Sachesi takes a while to do a no destructive update, but I from what I have read from others on this forum, seems to be the best method. Since I use a Mac, now I don't have to deal with the autoloader not working in my VMWare Windows virtual machine.

The Android apps seem to open faster in my opinion and seems to be more responsive. Each update seems to be getting better and better. I will post more in the next day or two, after I have taken it for a good test ride. So far, I am very pleased.
