So on the latest 10.2 leak both WiDi and Miracast options appear on my Q10 (see below)

    10.2 WiDi and Miracast support?-img_00000369.png

I am wondering if anyone has successfully been able to make use of either of these new features or are they not fully implemented yet? I have never used Miracast with anything but I do use WiDi on my laptop with other devices but haven't been able to connect my Q10 as of yet.

I guess really I want to know if I should bother trying to make this work yet or not haha

Wifi Direct is NOT WiDi. WiDi is an Intel proprietary wireless display standard.

If your TV has Miracast - anything that is on your phone can be displayed on the TV. (Any app, game, video, picture, email, BBM, Skype, etc... If your tv doesn't have miracast, buy a $30 adapter for one of your TV's HDMI ports. IE - It works.

WIFI direct allows you to connect directly to another wifi device without need of a router. Not sure it's working.

One of our wireless tv's at work can be used with Miracast so I am going to play with that once I get there.

I clearly don't understand wifi direct but if it's not working then maybe it's not worth trying. My understand was that wifi direct let's you network two wireless devices without a router and share files.

Think of it more like a ad-hoc network. Where you connect to each other.

Even easier, like a bluetooth connectio with your laptop but faster.
