I got an insider source telling me it's going to be call BBCHEN!!! The Jim and Mike legacy left such bad reputation, Chen wants to erase the bad reputation.
That was the funniest thing I've read all day!! I vote for BBChen!!

that is just too predictable. i hope they don't. that's what I was fearing when they went from BBX to BB10. I like the 'QNX powered by BlackBerry' name we came up with in another thread.
Wouldn't it really be BlackBerry powered by QNX..?

I do like the idea of dropping the QNX branding in there with only a little BlackBerry signature. We will know it's still BlackBerry but it could cause a sort of rebirth for the platform. Get all new reviews for QNX powered by BlackBerry to erase the luke warm reviews that are for the launch BB10 OS.

Edit: It is VERY important that BlackBerry first releases a VERY good OS and then supplies reviewers with handsets preloaded with the OS. This way carriers don't get in the way and reviews will be quite good across the board from at least the big name reviewers.

Why and what will they call it?
They should call it QNX1, they should have done that from the start, people would have known it's a different start from bb7.1, it will benefit their marketing too.

EDIT: just like the above poster said, if they rebrand BB10 to QNX1 or QNX10 and make sure it's awesome with no bugs, send to reviewers and bam you got a new relaunch and a new reputation.

FYI, take this for what it is... but expect BB10 to be rebranded as QNX10. Whether or not versioning stays the same is still TBD.

At this point unless something changes drastically, 10.2.1 is expected to be released by carriers (date/time not provided), not under any other version or name.
Exactly QNX10 is a good idea too, in the above post I suggested QNX1.

Except that the main QNX OS software is already at version 6.5 (sp 1).

They're going to have to distinguish the mobile OS from the main OS development branch. If they use the QNX name, they'll have to add some kind if qualifier to it.

My guess is that 10.2.1 is really 10.3.
It would actually make some sense to skip the number 10.2.1.x and use 10.3 for release to help distinguish versions of BB10 that can install Android apps from .apk files downloaded to the phone from older versions of 10.2 that can't.

As it stands with the version that can install .apk files being the Maintenance Release for 10.2 it's less clear for non-technically minded phone owners which version they need to be able to do it.

Imagine the questions posted to the forums:

"I hear I can download Android apps from anywhere now. But when I try there's no option to install. What gives? I have 10.2 now."

    "You need 10.2.1"

    "I said I have it, 10.2"

    "No, you need 10.2.1"

"WTF? You're kidding me! Screw BlackBerry I'm getting an Android phone".

Well 6.5.1 isn't far off 7 so going by BlackBerry's recent logic the next version can be 10.

I doubt that a rebranding of BB10 to QNX would happen. Awareness of BB10 in consumerland and Enterprise is low but growing slowly. QNX is unknown outside of the auto-trade ICE market and embedded electronics. There's niche and then there's QNX.
