There is not a single damn reason to switch to Android.... not when the runtime is everything we need and continues to improve...

I agree, just with the Google play store thread and other threads, and this one where one person mentioned how all our device would upgrade to the "new OS " I'm hoping it's still BlackBerry and not android or a different OS

Maybe I'm reading way to far into it lol

The key that seems to be forgotten by some is the word re-branding. That doesn't mean getting rid or dumping the OS. It just means a fresh image/name. That's what I gather by the above comments. Folks who are jumping to conclusions and assuming this current OS we use (whatever you want to call or its going to be called) will no longer exists are misunderstanding the posts in this thread. That's what I believe.

Well people need to rephrase because they aren't making sense. BB10 will not cease to exist and it's next iteration BB11 or whatever it will be called will be based on BB10.

Agreed and that's what I meant. Some seem to have taken the re-branding comments as getting rid of the OS. This OS is here to stay...maybe it'll be called QNX10 or 11 or whatever but it's still this OS we all use and love.

After 10.3.0, they will abandon the BB10 name completely apparently...
Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Blackberry going the Apple/ Google way of naming their OS? I thought there was some sort of agreement in the inside back in November/ December. I was hoping stars and consolations would be it but I think they went another route.

I don't think Chen would like the idea of changing BB10's name...
One former employee says that Chen got riled up when a manager suggested changing the name of a product to boost lackluster sales. He responded by asking if it would also make sense to change the names of your children if they got bad grades in school.

    This is good discussion.

It seems to me, they should release 10.2.1 as 10.3, since there are so many improvements. I read somewhere that BBRY was trying to get critical mass of APK files from key vendors in their store before the 10.3 announcement, but who knows.

Changing the name from BB10 to anything else, though, doesn't make any sense to me. It seems like a marketing distraction at best and a significant step backwards in branding at worst. I've not done the formal market research, but BlackBerry is known for business, messaging and security. Why not continue to build on that?

Interested in reading other's point of view.

As stated, RIM BlackBerry is well known for skipping a few OS numbers before going with a newer/improved version. I personally don't care about the OS name/number as long as we get progressive leaks that continue to "resolve" documented issues.

that is just too predictable. i hope they don't. that's what I was fearing when they went from BBX to BB10. I like the 'QNX powered by BlackBerry' name we came up with in another thread.

What are you talking about? If it is to not support current devices and their customers, that is a suicide. Of course they or the might just as well turn the key and just close up.

Like from OS 7 to BB10.

Android did it from 1.0 to 1.6, and from 2.3 to 4.0.
