Agree with the first part of your post, I switched for the same reasons from my iPhone but I don't have any gripes about the OS that are enough to diminish my experience.

Maybe I was too unlucky with the support people I had since the first contact with BlackBerry support. I am nerved and angry so yeah BlackBerry isn't giving me a good time when it comes to support.

I still love the OS 10 it's a great one and the Z10 is a nice phone but when i get dozen of spam calls everyday and normal calls in between that you need to answer - that sucks if you can't block them.

Give them a silent tone is (in MY case) simply not enough.

And a few weeks ago I have read (didn't remember where) that they have actually no plan for releasing the specific api.

And no yes or no from the so called official support doesn't make it better.

In my old cheap Samsung Wave with Bada OS V1.0 it was OS integrated worldwide - and independent if the carrier supported it or not. And on many other phones.

That may we be the case. However, I can you that none of the other phones (iPhone, SG4) support this feature out-of-the-box and globally.

    Sorry.

Kris, does 10.2 have a 'return' function on BBM/whatsapp for when I'm writing text if I hit shift+enter or something it moves to a new paragraph? Thanks.

I have this feature on my Z10, but it's carrier supported, not a phone feature. With Rogers it can be configured via the my account app on the phone or the online portal. I'm not sure if other carriers are offering a similar service.

    Attachment 170704

That said, as above, I've yet to see a phone offer this as a standard feature.. I do remember 3rd party apps that would do it on BBOS, and I'm sure similar apps will pop up for BB10 as the platform matures and the api's are released

Not yet. But it will be added to 10.1 later this summer

This post of yours is a little less inflammatory, so I wanted to respond.

I agree that we should be able to block calls and SMS from specific numbers as a feature of the OS. Not sure whether it's a manufacturer issue or a carrier issue (in other words, not sure whether carriers don't want BBRY to provide this feature. I don't know either way, it's just conjecture by me).

I agree with you on most of the third-party apps as well. Things like Mr. Number or whatever the "crowd-sourced" app is named just don't make me feel very confident. I don't want to rely on someone else to tell me which numbers to block, nor do I care to share my choices with anyone at all.

I used to have two third-party apps on my legacy device: Call Blocker Professional and SMSBlocker.

Call Blocker Pro worked by accepting a list of numbers to block, comparing incoming calls to that list, and then simulating input (in my case pressing Ignore Call) that would send the call directly to voicemail. There was an option to simulate an answer/hangup as well to avoid the voicemail if needed. The app logged blocked calls, which was very handy. There was also an option to send an SMS to blocked callers.

SMSBlocker worked in a similar fashion. Comparing against a blocklist, the app would filter out incoming SMS messages. The messages were not deleted, but moved to another database. You could reply from the list of blocked messages, and you also had an option to send an auto-reply to blocked senders.

As far as I know, BBRY has not made these types of functions available to developers (yet) and I am hoping they will do so. These apps were very helpful and I would really appreciate having them back on BB10. If these functions were available in the OS itself, I'd be even happier.

My offhand comment about inflammatory posts was light-hearted, by the way. I completely understand the frustration of not having a feature available, especially when it seems so basic to these devices.

For the record that means it took 6 years to implement. With that said, the galaxys do have a block list feature baked in, but very few phones, at least in the USA, have this feature. Definitely would be useful though.

Have you added yourself to the do not call list with all your credit companies and stuff? And also Google your number to see if it's out there somehow maybe...

I never get spam calls on my personal phone but I do at work. I've gotten the same call from some people claiming to be the electric company all the time. I overheard my coworker threaten to call the police on some spam callers once as well after like the 5th call lol

I can only select the sending account if I'm replying to something that came into one of my Google Apps accounts, then I can select even my personal Gmail as a sender.
OTOH anything arrived to my personal Gmail I cannot select the sender account.

Are there any options to disable the slow charging or low batter warnings? These continue to appear again and again, and are very disruptive to getting things done.

My son's GS2 has number blocking built in with the android 2.whatever (2.3, I think) it originally came with. And it's on AT&T. I wish my 9800 had it. It'd be nice if BB10 would eventually get it, but it's not a deal breaker for me.
