I have a macbook that I purchased in 2008, but the software is too old to sideload. This is what I was told from a friend, so I thought using my chromebook might work. Any help would be appreciated since I'm very new to this.

Not sure how you can sideload with a Mac. I'm sure there has to be a way. See the guide in my signature for sideloading help.
    And welcome to CrackBerry!

You can use the BB10/Playbook App Manager on a chromebook. It works really well. The only problem I have is that since updating my z10 to 10.2 I can't get my chromebook to connect to the phone.
