Personally I would not buy a BB10 device at this point. HOWEVER if you really want one, find out which model the person has then google the specs for it. Different models work with different cellular frequencies. It IS possible that an Asian Z30 has some of the North American networks or European networks as the case may be. BUT you should check which it has AND make sure your carrier supports at least 1 of them!
Device hasn't been made in five years... think Mexico mostly was where it was made. You buy it where you can still find it, and hope of the best. If at all possible buy through stores that offer some "protection"... eBay or Amazon.
Agree you have to match the variant with your region/carrier to make sure it will work.
GPS does work as well as many Map options.. But some of the better 3rd party are gone now that paid apps are gone from BBW.
You also need to be very clear on what BB10 is and isn't, and be aware of the possibility for the end of the year.
Well, you definitely want to make sure the device is compatible with your carrier. That said, Blackberry 10 devices (as opposed to the new Android devices bearing the Blackberry Mobile brand) were assembled by Blackberry Limited so an import should not be an issue.
Blackberry Maps still works with GPS with no trouble. If you want to use Google Maps there are workarounds, but that is a little more difficult than using the built-in Blackberry Maps application.
Am about to return to my Z30 as a second line. Checking this morning -- Science Daily still works. My news feeds still work. Even Room Tunes still works! Weather apps (so far). All the basic stuff. Calendar still syncs with desktop just fine. Hub works. Not to mention that cool BBerry dock!
Was using my Dtek 50, but that's always under wifi, so just put digits on it, no SIM needed.
Bottom line is, I like the Z30.
You can pick up a used KeyONE for under 200 now.
Not a PKB lover. Wife has a KeyOne. Motion is my main phone.
