Sam, have you or someone else tried to get a BB10 working with the generic (cheaper) data plans? Sometimes the employees at carriers' stores are misinformed and what's said isn't true--and sometimes it is--like in AnimalPak200's case. But you wouldn't find out if you try!

Raino, actually my local carrier has their different data plan for BlackBerry prepaid or post paid. I use my z30 using non BlackBerry prepaid plan without hassles hehehe. If I'll get the BlackBerry data plan I'll pay like $10 more expensive. I discovered it by chance actually that it works with z30. My friend has z10 and it didn't work. So he just wasted $40.

Aha! Let me guess...your carrier doesn't sell the Z30 then?

If that's so, what's happening here is that the Z30 is not in their system as a BlackBerry. That's probably why you are able to get by without paying the extra $10. And postpaid vs. prepaid should not make a difference then (not that I suggest you try to do anything to prove/disprove this )

But let me ask you this, going back to your original problem: does this friend with the Z10 get LTE?

My carrier has no z30 yet and it is not listed as blackberry hehehe. My friend's z10 is stl-1 which I guess is not an lte capable so he's not getting the lte as well. We have just one network provider that offers lte not so most probably we will have the chance to experience the full blast of lte later part of this year.

Got it. If you insist to your carrier that you have an Android, you just might be able to get away with it when the LTE capable micro SIM comes in.

I suggest you to reload your OS with BlackBerry Link. It might solve the issue.

I am.based at Dubai. Using STA 100-2. It supports all network.
Tiwariji I have a DU sim, do you have any idea if 4g should come out of the box with the prepaid sim card I purchased as I was only getting 3g coverage. Sorry for going out of context here but appreciate if you could shed some light on this. I travel frequently to dubai and this would really help or should I go for Etisalat instead.
