I think when you switch you need to wait a few milliseconds for the change to be made....don't start speaking right away...give it two seconds?
Is this what you mean?
Turn the device off, rip the battery, wait 30 seconds, put it back in and turn it on.
If that doen't cut it you may bee facing a damaged phone there. Water/moist damage maybe?
