It doesn't need an onscreen keyboard to complicate things.

Not really sure how it complicates things if it only appears when you want it to but OK. Chances are, it will as a secondary input option in case of failure.

Really wondering your thoughts about the timeline. IF the announcement is made on 4th of jan how long would it take BlackBerry to release it to market?

Well last year TCL announce the Idol 4 at CES.... if they stay on track that would put it around June/July.

Really will have to wait on TCL to see what they release, and when they will release it, and to what markets it will be released.

North America seems to be getting it. By the way it was announced at MWC not CES .

If it mirrors what the Priv does, there will be a switch to toggle it. Doing that wouldn't leave much screen real estate, but I could see why (e.g. handwriting foreign characters)
