    Will talk&text work?
    Will everything else work?
    Any known issues?
It's a bit confusing what 3G frequencies the phone should have in order to work properly.

If you have a 9720, it most likely has the UMTS 850/1900/2100 bands, which makes it most compatible with AT&T's network. It may or may not work on TMO/Metro PCS' 3G network depending on where you are in the US (scroll down to Re-farmed Cities. Roam Mobility is a carrier that uses the TMO network,) but it will definitely work on AT&T's 3G network. If you get TMO service and are not in a refarmed city, you will only get 2G service: good enough for talk and text, poor for data-intensive needs.

So for peace of mind, I would get service from an AT&T network--which means any carrier that uses the AT&T network (AT&T, and prepaid options like Cricket Wireless, Straight Talk, etc.) Talk and text should work on any of these carriers, but full data service will only work on carrier that offer BIS. And there aren't a lot of prepaid carriers that offer BIS.
