    I would appreciate some advice as to which brand is best. I would prefer in ear as opposed to over the ear. I don't need them for exercise.

    Any brand should work.
    I've used Plantronics, Marley, and Bose without any connection problems. Interestingly I've found the range best with the Plantronics although they were the cheapest.
