I have a Key One and thought I might repurpose my old Passport as a music player in the car. Tried to connect to PC to download some music onto it but it wouldn't connect. Failure to mount error message.

So I removed Blackberry desktop from the PC restarted and reinstalled. Did a security wipe on the Passport. Tried again still the same message.

I think the Passport is headed for electronics recycling, I have wasted an afternoon on this and I'm done. Shame.

Just curious, is it possible to drag and drop your music files without using BlackBerry Desktop?
If that option doesn't work, you can still transfer music via a card reader for the Passport's microSD card.

Which OS is your desktop running? You should probably install BlackBerry Link, whose drivers will let you log into your Passport on the desktop and read your device as 2 drives: one internal and one for your SD card.

You don't need to use Link for anything other than setting up that login, then you can close it. You'll still be able to see your device mounted drives in My Computer.

Caveat: some people with Windows 10 have found this difficult until they change a default Windows setting.

Hope that helps keep your Passport out of the Recycling bin!
