white x in red box displayed where the r in the green box usually displays

It might the contact you send message no longer use the same ID again or changed PIN. I experienced that when I switched to a new device. All BBM contacts are reloaded to the new device automatically since I use the same ID as in old phone. The same ID but the PIN will change.
However whenever I send message to a friend, I experienced as yours. It wasn't supposed to happen. And I'm thinking BBM need improvement for something like this.
