My BB Classic some times indicates that message is received (vibrates and flashes LED), but when I unlock the screen, no message could be found (no new message icon either). I have had the same problem when I had data services turned on with edge, it happened several times per day. Now I have turned off data services and use only edge, but problem persists, less frequent though. Mostly it happens at night, which is quite annoying. Please help.

How curious, it's not a weather alert, or some other app alert is it?

I don't use data services, and I have almost all apps uninstalled. Similar issues were observed with Android devices, but not with BB OS.

When you say you don't use data services, you do have a sim card in the device do you? Or do you just connect with wifi?

I presume you're connected to the internet when you get the notification?

Edge, from memory is 2G, isn't it? So that's phone, sms, mms and radio, from memory. Oh and bbm.

You are right, I have SIM and device, but I use my device as a regular phone (work specific), so under Options > Networks and Connections > Mobile Network > Network technology I have - GSM, and Available Network says ''edge - Voice only'' . When I receiving notification I am not connected to internet in any way.

Could it by something to do with voicemail?

Doesn't look like, I checked, no new voice messages. Quite strange , everything indicates, that I have got a new message - phone vibrates, LED blinks, but when I unlock the phone no new message icon there and LED stops blinking. I think it somehow is related to switched off data services, previously under Options > Networks and Connections > Mobile Network > Network technology I had HSPA+/UMTS/GSM or something like this, and in certain places I had the same false message notification every 5 minutes. Now under Options > Networks and Connections > Mobile Network > Network technology I have GSM and I am getting false message notification only couple times per week.

    I haven't got any more ideas, ....

I use my classic with data turned on, 4G.

As you've said, the false notification must be some sort of alert re no data on, or something ...... Interesting.
