    I just did a software update and then got a message "storage capacity almost full. I have a 16gb capacity. I have the following read out.....system 8.78gb, apps....2.29gb, user files, 1.63gb, free....only 517mb. This doesn't add up. Anyone know whats going on? Thanks

    If Im reading you right, you have 1.63gb of free space and the update is 517mb.
    The update package is going to be compressed. During the installation routines additional files and structures need to be created. An extra ~1gb for processing and installation is not unreasonable.

    Your system size of almost 9GB is too high. It should be between 3-5.5GB.

    This happens sometimes after a failed update along the way. You may want to consider a clean install with an autoloader.
