Why is my BlackBerry Q5 refusing to detect my Vodafone 4G sim (India)?

Hi,

Good day to everyone here.

I'm a longtime user of the BB Q5 and do not intend to give it up anytime soon.

I'm on Vodafone's network here and recently decided to upgrade my sim to their new 4G enabled SIM which they've recently launched.

To my horror, the SIM is refusing to be detected by my Q5. There is no problem with the SIM card, it is being detected on all other phones. There is also no problem with the Q5's sim-card slot, other SIM cards (which are not 4G enabled) are being detected on it and running on it.

I really am at my wits' end. I don't want to give up my beloved Q5 for this. Is there anything I can do?

Your Q5 wouldn't happen to be a model number SQR100-3, would it?
If so, that device doesn't have 4G/LTE hardware.

I think that one was the model sold in India.

Yah... but they are all over Amazon now too.

Just to add, the ones sold on Amazon are listed as "International" devices and they do list the network tech (GSM-Edge / HSDPA) and bands/frequencies supported.
So it isn't like they are hocking them as 4G/LTE devices.
But they also don't specifically mention they are not 4G/LTE devices.

Always read the fine print.... /shrug
