    I am switching out to a new battery and sim card. The screen is half black the half is large print sign in page. I can't see the bottom of my screen to clear blackberry password.

    Try to make pinch/zoom(out) gestures (bring 2 fingers from apart to the centre of the screen to zoom out)... you might have turned that on in the options
