I bought my blackberry torch 9810 off someone and was told it was unlocked. I checked out the mepd and it showed "Network" active. So I got an unlock code, put it in and now it says "Inactive". Which I assume means unlocked. Now that I put my Telus sim card into the phone it will not read and on the top of the screen by the time displays "Insert Sim Card". I've tried taking it in and out, securty wipe and even a new sim card. I am very annoyed with this and hopefully somebody can help me. Thanks

So if the phone is already unlocked - Why did you enter an unlock code?

    Always happy to help!

This could be an AWS 9810, which means it has the following bands: UMTS 900/1700/2100. Does this phone have T-Mobile, WIND, Mobilicity, Vidotron branding on it?

For Telus, you need UMTS the 850/1900/2100 model, because Telus has HSPA+ networks on 850 and 1900 MHz. They do not have a GSM network, which is why this phone can't latch on to any lower (2G, EDGE, etc.) networks.
