Could be your microphone isn't functioning... if you have a voice recorder app or something along those lines, check if you can make a voice note. This will tell if you have a functioning mic.
Wonder if we'll ever be able to hear the rest of the story.

Either way I think either your volume is turn down its muted or just simply your mic is done
