BB Bold 9900 still has pictures with the .jpg.rem extension but now my phone says this image can't be viewed. I have tried to turn off encryption and copied to my computer but same error. Any thoughts?

    Go to
    Options>Media Card>Encrypt Media Files> No

    Options>Media Card>Encryption Mode>None

No go and copy those images on your 9900 to an SD card or another location.. .they should now be saved as a plain JPG that you can copy to your computer.

now that you have disabled encryption and copied the files to your computer, have you checked the file extension to ensure it is just .jpg and no longer .jpg.rem?

if they are still named with the double extension, they will not open. however, "dunt dunt dunt" has a very good example to try first because the process described above would rename them to just .jpg, obviously

i do know that a ."jpg.rem" file extension wouldn't be recognizable or opened by the computer you transferred them to
